I was travelling with two small dogs and a car full of stuff for my house rental. The hotel was safe and the garden was fabulous for the dogs. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful. I had a great room and the restaurant at the hotel was excellent. All in all it was a great overnight stay and I may very well go back there on my return.

Very nice hotel and great parking. Beautiful building. Only slight let down was lack of staff especially this morning myself and other guests playing hunt the receptionist to check out. Eventually had to leave a note and request email to follow with bill.

Bedroom was very cold. Heating/air conditioning did not operate. The receptionist very kindly gave me a heater she was using. Convenient location for La Rochelle. Restaurant responded well to my requirements for gluten-free food (Coeliac disease so not a lifestyle choice)

Business trip to La Rochelle Boat Show
Beautiful building and very helpful reception staff, spa was a little tired with a broken steam room and very tired shower area but pool a good size and pleasantly warm ! Grounds need a little TLC but could be absolutely stunning. Only down side was that it was a 10 minute taxi ride into La Rochelle and both taxi's and Ubers were hard to come by due to the Boat Show !

Enjoyed it.
Beautiful building, lovely room however signs of age. Lovely big bed and huge shower. Very nice staff. Nice pool and steam room but again showing signs of age. Free parking, location not far from shops and town. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

An expensive mistake
No restaurant or bar open in a remote location.organised taxi to restaurant 10 mins. away was 60+ euro's return as taxi travels from La Rochelle. On arrival only drink available was soft by later in the evening I had a full choice. If advertised services aren't available a credit should be issued. Previous reviews have experienced the same problem I have now discovered. Not a good job at all from Hotels.com!! or of course the hotel itself

The hotel building was very impressive to look at on arrival, however, the grounds were in need of maintenance and the windows were dirty, giving the place a rather drab look inside. The reception staff were most welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was a shame however that the outlook from the room was not at it’s best because of the maintenance needed on the grounds and condition of the windows. Buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choices of fruit, bread, yogurts etc.

Excellent for dogs and spacious rooms and grounds
Very large rooms, door straight into the very spacious grounds which was great for our dog walks Restaurant good, had some vegetarian options for my partner, but dogs not allowed into the restaurant so have to stay in the room while having meals

Out of season skeleton staff.
The restaurant and bar were closed. The hotel is quite remote so had to drive for meals quite disappointed. Room clean and very comfortable.

Wonderful place to stay, especially as I live in a chateau in Normandy, so it was great to feel so comfortable and the reception were very helpful Two negative points - the light shade in the room is full of dead flies and the black stain in the shower area needs treatment.

Nice, quiet location - excellent standard of room; very good food in the restaurant. In my view, the buffet breakfast was overpriced at €15 per person considering the limited choice.

A converted chateau which has been modernised. Good location for exploring La Rochelle. Rooms modern and clean Breakfast average (not worth additional 15€ each) Pool small but functional Wi-Fi not great Otherwise a great place to stay

Disappointing Stay
Chateau very pleasant from exterior but bedroom was full of flies & mosquitoes. Mentioned to hotel staff but there only comment was to ask if I had opened the window. The window was closed throughout our stay. Ate at hotel restaurant (123) restaurant but again disappointed with lack of choice of food on menu. Service was indifferent and was not even asked if food was good or if more drinks were required. As a result we decided not to have breakfast in the hotel and sought a local cafe. Overall I was extremely disappointed as I thought that this looked the best hotel from all the others booked on the trip. Would not return or recommend.

Excellent hotel apart from dinner it was evident that the chef had not tasted the sauce that came with the duck. Very bitter and not edible.The duck was also over cooked. However, then Entree was fantastic. Just a shame about the duck.

Value for money. Lovely old building nicely renovated. It's a shame there are modern residential blocks just next door as spoils charm a little. Rooms nicely decorated, comfortable, well set out. A little more attention to the cleanliness could be good.... lift carpet, back of toilet door.... Dinner good, not fabulous.

This is a very attractive chateau that has been cleverly refurbished inside to provide a thoroughly modern interior to the rooms. Lowered ceilings, with effective and quiet air-conditioning. Lovely grounds to view and explore. Enjoyed the indoor pool and steam room.

Charming location
Charming hotel, nicely styled with lovely grounds and welcoming to pets. Although a few miles out of La Rochelle the hotel is self contained with well appointed rooms, small spa and nice grounds. Staff are helpful and the buffet breakfast (15 euros pp) offered quality products and a good range of fruit, breads, cheese, hams, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and the option to boil your own egg. Ratio of tea bags to guests was ill-judged - 1 x Earl Grey, 1 x herbal and no milk. Reception provided milk and 2 tea bags promptly. I would suggest you supply 4 regular tea bags for 2 guests per night. Did not eat in the restaurant in the evening. Bar service on the terrace overlooking the garden was pleasant. Overall, very enjoyable if you're happy to stay outside La Rochelle.

I was a little surprised that the room was modern , but it was very comfortable and clean.There is a modern development of holiday flats in the grounds ,but there is still a large park to walk in.Restaurant food a bit disappointing ,but staff are charming and can't help enough.A very calm and relaxing experience.
