The staff were very accomodating. I had an appointment at 4pm at Kilbeggan. They made a room available for me to change in. I enjoyed the pool and the breakfast. It was overall a positive experience.

This hotel had all you needed. The rooms lots of towels , extra bedding a safe, fan etc. Staff friendly and helpful. Smoking area needs to be improved as we were staying on the ground floor near the front door/ bar and there was alot of noise from the smoking area . I couldnt fault the hotel. The breakfast was amazing. The bar was very noisy as there were alot of families staying. Needed sone more "calm" with dim lighting and some background music!

Lovely facility and good restaurant. Very accommodating staff give that we were booking late due to a scam booking from Vrbo that left us with no other option but to book this 4-star hotel in Carlow because we were otherwise left stranded without a place to stay.

Pool not open after supper time?
Didn’t live up to its ratings unfortunately. Room very small. Could use a new mattress. Pool only open until supper time but… was told one can still use it after checking out. Access to hotel not easy to get to either until you’ve been there once.

Issues
Couldn’t seem to get a key to work to open my door, after trying multiple keys and multiple trips up and down to reception the receptionist had to let me in with her master key and this was the case any time I wanted to leave the room so it became more effort than it was worth. This was only resolved a little before check out when the guy at the front desk gave me a new key before using the gym and explained why I had had issues to this point. Key finally worked. Bed linen on double bed dirty and stained, single was fine so just slept in that, with the key debacle had no faith in anything else being rectified. As for comfort well was near impossible to get sleep as the walls so thin that all could hear was the tv from the person in the room next until near 4 am. Not a good experience at all.

Solid place
Solid stay - nice, clean facilities, friendly front desk staff, a restaurant with a decent mix of reasonably priced dishes. I was only booked for one night, so I didn't check out the gym or the pool, but my room was clean and the bed was really comfy. You could hear the neighbors a bit, but it wasn't bad. The main thing for me was that the room was rather cold - there was just a radiator but no central AC/heat from what I could find, so I wonder what they do during winter or if it gets really hot in the summer. There's a large food court next door and a large parking lot outside, which was convenient. Good value for the money, I'd book here again if I ever travel through Portlaoise again!

Great customer service in the end
Stay was eventually very good but on arrival later than planned due to flight delay, room had been given away to walk in despite earlier confirmation that we were still coming but it was all sorted in the end and both night porter and manager were very helpful and went above and beyond to sort everything out and stay was great Great customer service and that’s all you can ask for
