Nice hotel. Central great reception area. Superb breakfast and very polite staff. Quiet in the hotel even though on a busy road. My only faults I could find was a nasty stain on the carpet. I think the carpets need replacing as they have renewed the flooring in public areas. The other thing is as we are trying to be green I cannot understand why the maid changed our towels and robes after one night. We were only staying 2 nights and had hung them all up. We did not need them changed daily. Such a waste of energy.

Handy for city centre
Great location. Comfy beds. Polite and welcoming staff. Hotel looks dated from the outside but isnt from the inside. Car park is outside the hotel but costs a lot. Use the town centre one (5 min walk). Much cheaper.

Car parking a big issue
hotel - good location, issue for me is the parking, there is a NCP just across the road from the hotel but you cannot get reduced rate to park here and its £22.95 per 24hrs, I am here for 5 nights. They have a deal with another car park some 7- 10 minutes walk away from the hotel which you can get for £6 per 24hr period. However this is not ideal if you have lots of expensive equipment which you need to decant from your vehicle to your room

Terrible hotel. Do not stay
Unfortunately my stay was awful. At check-in, we were told, we would have to check out early as the hotel is having an electricity check so the hotel will lose all electricity. Which is fine. However 1. this should have been communicated to us before our arrival so we can decide if we want to proceed or find somewhere else to stay. 2. I needed an early checkin. If you are going to throw us out of the room early, the absolute least you can do is let us have an early checkin. But no. The woman was very 'computer says no' She did not check if there were any rooms available. She did not care we were a large family group. Zero empathy. No we cannot stay in a dark room with no electricity for 2 hours. So yes you are forcing people out early. I have emailed customer services and the hotel and zero response. The lack of communication, accountability and response is disgusting. But I guess you get what you pay for. If you want to be treated like piece of crap, sure this is the place to come. But seriously, run away. Book something else for your piece of mind. Run far far away. Holiday Inn, if you want to speak with me, how about you respond to my email?

Not as good an experience as usual.
It was fine. Staff were polite. Hotel was clean. Disappointing that there were no gym facilities. Also hotel parking deal is quite a distance from the hotel in a busy part of the city.

The hotel has been updated really well since our last visit. Was really impressed by the update, the staff, and general atmosphere . The hotel is on a roundabout with an NCP car park, so the outside isn't the best, but the hotel is. Parking at the NCP car park is very expensive, so park at Highcross rooftop and get your ticket stamped at hotel reception and it then works out at just £6 for 24 hours. Bargain!! We will definitely be staying next time as had a lovely large room on the 6th floor. Thank you Holiday Inn.
