Nothing on Hotel.com prepares you for the fact that you need to book in to another hotel's reception nor that when you try to do so the receptionist will deny knowing anything about the procedure. Nor will you know that, when you phone the hotel, they will sigh in exasperation that you cannot speak German and that they will be pretty rude to you. Add to the above that it took 45 minutes to check us in to a pre-booked reservation and the room service called at 8am and...

"The check out at this property is 10AM. I have not been to a hotel with as early check out time as this in a long time. If you ask them for late check out you will be lucky to get 11AM. Past that they will try to charge you a 1/2 day fee. The hotel is a bit dated now. I have stayed here several times for the past 3 years and there is zero upgrades/maintenance. Location is really good though."

"A lovely hotel in a fantastic location. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the gym and pool. My only negative was the habit that many Slovakian hotels have of using single beds and placing them together (while still made up as single beds) and claiming this to be a double or king bed. Thankfully the reception staff provided me with sheets to convert my singles to a double (sort of)"
