We had a wonderful time at Hillside Lodge. It is in stunning countryside (note there is a slightly bumpy 20-30 minute drive from Luang Prabang but we found this to be an added part of the adventure) with a great pool to cool down in either after a days activity or to relax around all day. The team are amazing and weren’t super helpful in arranging transfers and activities. Khan was an amazing host and the food on site was great as were the fruit juices - kids (and adults) loved it all. It is a short walk (1km) to Nam Dong park where we did a Laotian cookery course, dream catcher weaving, and treetop adventures with zip lining - all highly recommended. We loved our time here (and buddy the dog was a highlight - super chilled) and hope to be back soon.

What a gem this is!

12 k outside Luang Prabang up a few dusty hill roads nesteled in a green slope lies Hillside Nature Resort. And what a gem this is. Cosy cabins and a very nice restaurant with great local food and more. Add to that a laidback and relaxed atmosphere and you have the perfect settings for some days in a quiet hill retreat. Holger and his wife runs this place with the help of polite and friendly local staffers from the nearby village. Mr Khan is really great! So we had a wonderful time here. Will be back! One of the best stays ever - what a peaceful, beautiful place - from location & mountain views to the quality of rooms to the staff and the outstanding food & beverages and services. The owners Holger & Aluna went out of their way to make us feel very welcome and engaged in the Laotian experience. We enjoyed fabulous back-country hikes through local villages and coming home to the lodge enjoying the sauna and pool followed by one of the best Asian menus including a wide variety of plant-based options we have ever seen. Highly recommending this family-operated lodge and cannot wait to go back one day. Holger helped with our onward journey on the Mekong River. 5 stars to this gem!

The staff is excellent and really friendly. Here you can do a lot of nice hiking and activities where you are basically alone/ off the beaten path or just relax. Also very decently priced, both food, accommodation and transfer/activities. Highly recommend and thanks Holger /w crew once again!

Hidden gem

A beautiful, secluded location which as you’d expect isn’t the easiest place to get to, but it’s worth it for the peace and quiet. The hotel offers a twice daily shuttle to/from town which at the time of our stay was $4pp per way. Staff very friendly, we enjoyed our time here. Must have a magician in the kitchen as the food was better than we’ve had in some 5 star hotels!

Great stay outside of Luang Prabang

We couldn't recommend a stay at Hillside more! Do yourself a favor and add a few nights to your Luang Prabang trip and just stay at Hillside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff and relaxing atmosphere. The manager, Maddie, made us feel at home instantly and we filled our days by lounging by the pool, reading in a hammock, taking a walk to the nearby park, getting a massage and eating all the delicious homemade food.

Everyone at Hillside, especially the host, are very friendly. They make you feel very welcome. The lodge is in a remote and beautifull scenic area with a very nice clean pool. We liked the hike through the village and ricefields and visited the botanical garden. If you like to go to the quiet countryside, Hillside is recommended! Go to Luang Prabang before or afterwards your stay because the road is very bad. Thank you Maddie for our wunderfull stay!

Lovely lovely stay

Such a lovely stay here, very peaceful with beautiful surroundings and a lovely pool. Luis and Noy are incredible hosts (and Buddy!) and the food was great too! Just a little hard to get to if you want to see some of what luand Prabang offers like the alms giving and night market but definitely recommend staying here for a few nights!

Peaceful and remote resort surrounded by nature.

Very nice venue, extremely quiet and peaceful with a nice area by the pool with hammocks and sofas. Location can be either great, or not ideal, depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking for something quiet, surrounded by nature and far from the city centre, this is the place for you. Otherwise, the location is not convenient.

Rural setting up a dirt road not for everyone, but we enjoyed the change of pace completely. It's like taking a vacation from travelling. Lovely pool. A great place to relax and restore. Charming ensuite bungalow, with common wall to adjacent bungalow. Main building with small restaurant, cafe, bar, board games, library. Sustainable practices employed. Drinking water provided. Extensive menu offerings satisfied our needs nicely with both local and international recipes. Several options for taking hikes in the area. Staff very professional, courteous, and helpful. We would definitely book again if in the area.

Lovely stay. The location is remote, but has some great hiking. A bit cold in the winter months, with little opportunities to heat up. Bring some warm clothing. Additionally, not sure if it is typical, but seemed to be a lot of families with kids staying.

자연 속에 있는 호텔

비엔티안 공항에서 굉장히 멀고, 가는 길도 외곽을 벗어나 좋지 않은 산길을 한참 가야 합니다. 그러나 호텔 자체는 자연 속에 묻혀있는 느낌으로 분위기 있고 아담하니 예뻐요. 엄청난 자연 속이라 벌레 싫어하는 분들은 꺼려질수도 있겠지만, 저와 친구들은 사진도 많이 찍고 수영장에서도 재밌게 놀았습니다. 도심에서 멀리 떨어져 있어 먹을 것도 로비에서 제공하는 음식으로밖에 해결 할 수밖에 없지만, 호텔 사장님도 친절하시고 음식맛도 (루앙프라방 스타일)괜찮았습니다. 단점은 와이파이가 로비에서만 된다는 점이고 그마저도 사람이 많을 땐 잘 터지지 않습니다. 속세에서 벗어나 자연과 동화되고 싶은 분들에게 추천합니당ㅎㅎ
