Nice property and grounds, service and food good at breakfast. The big disappointment was having to pay £20/pp to use the swimming pool, which is the first time I can remember having to pay to use a pool at hotel. this should be made clear when booking

Spa was lovely and enjoyable.
However my room smelled of stale smoke, the bathroom had mould round bath. No air con and window did not open. When I reached up to try and open it was very dusty. No mini fridge. At the bar I was the only customer, i said i was sat outside (in view of the bar) but drink did not arrive. When i went in, it was just sat unattended on the bar. Felt overall a little disappointed. Chose not to stay a second night.

Room, staff, amenities. I have also emailed enclosing photographs, but to date I have heard nothing!
Lovely grounds and fabulous spa facilities. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The ladies at the reservation entrance were all exceptional.
Jasmine who works at the spa did a fabulous job on sprucing up my tired hands. I felt like a Disney princess after she did her magic on my pedicure!
Stayed overnight with my wife whilst on business in the area.
Nice place - typical Champneys sort of thing.
Room was fine, food in restaurant really good, nice beer in the bar.
The room was actually very reasonably priced on the night we were there

Staff were great and we had a lovely wedding but found the bar facilities very poor. For the main bar to the hotel just serving over priced bottle beer only I think is very bad!!! ywebsite it says a comp
Rooms were lovely, beautiful location and staff were great - perfect for what we went for. Spa was also lovely and very relaxing. Breakfast was also really nice and good for the price
Room very comfortable and dinner good but stay spoiled by a fire alarm evacuation at around 1.20 for over an hour outside in the cold and wet with no guidance or information on what to do. No apparent fire or fire brigade attendance and no informed staff available.
This led to a very disturbed night. We were informed in the morning that it had been a false alarm and the culprit had been found.
Better management of the event would have been appreciated.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was comfy and view was lovely. Spa was fantastic
Room service menu is limited and only available until 9pm. In the shower, there is no shower gel bottle so had to reach over the sink to get some shower gel. If there was a soap dish, I would have put some in there and brought into the shower.
Perfect Stay for Grandparents – Accessible, Warm & Welcoming
Booked a stay here for my grandparents and they were overjoyed. The hotel was clean, peaceful, and easy to get around, with great accessibility throughout. The staff were especially kind and attentive—nothing was too much trouble, and they made my grandparents feel truly welcome.
They loved the comfortable room and relaxing atmosphere. A perfect spot for a stress-free break. Highly recommended for older guests or anyone looking for friendly service and a calm setting.

Disliked: Cleanliness
There is no lift at the property, had to carry bags all the way by stairs to the second floor.
Too many lady bugs in the room.
Service was poor. Called reception for bottled water which was never delivered despite following up.
Shower tap was too hard to turn. Water pressure from shower was low. No hand shower in the bath tub.
Overall not a great experience.
Bad:
The room was dirty, hairs on the bathroom floor, black mould on the sealant around the bath, the shower was in the bath so it was very pokey and small than I expected.
The carpet was dusty and not very clean, the paint was peeling especially near the windows and one was rotten in the bathroom.
The spa receptionists didnt know their offerings, and couldnt describe what the different massasges involved, during the massage there was constant advice for extra treatments which made it less relaxing.
The cleaning staff were vacuuming in the hallway outside my room at 10pm at night, and due to the non noise blocking doors it was very loud.
The good:
The staff in the hotel were friendly and gave good advice for the spa. The drinks were good and the breakfast the next morning.
Generally I dont think this is a 4* hotel, 3* at best. It could be great but really needs a rennovation of the rooms and not a big one at that. Just new carpets, windows and fresh coat of paint. Maybe a new shower in the bathrooms.
I often stay here as the rooms are lovely and the beds are so comfortable. The facilities are amazing and the food in the restaurant is always good. I will continue to make this hotel my first choice when I am visiting Manchester

Had a lovely stay for special family wedding. Beautiful setting and lovely old Hall. If I had booked a standard room I would have been very happy as comfortable bed, coffee and biscuits in room but I booked a Superior room and had a view of a high brick wall and air conditioning units plus rusty side of bath and cracked tiles. Staff were great but one poor girl rushed off her feet in Breakfast room so guests had to clear tables to sit down and hunt for cutlery. Despite this we had a lovely stay and it was clean and comfortable, just a little pricey.
