Happy in mackinaw
The hotel was very clean and good value for the money. The staff was friendly and when we had a very minor issue they were there in mins to help us out. Would stay there again

Perfect motel just outside of town. Beautiful private beach coffee hut too. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!

It was clean and well maintained. Wish it was a Queen size bed for my husband and I but it was what I booked. No bar soap? No outlet next to bed for cellphone charging.

Exceptional stay away from city.
After reading several reviews that said this motel was less than perfect, I now wonder if they were not about this great find. Everything here was perfect from room accommodations, staff and peacefulness away from the city. Our four day stay provided a very relaxing end to our summer travels.

My wife and i enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Since there are no in room refrigerators an on site ice machine would be convenient. We would definitely stay again.

Clean, Quiet, Comfortable, and Close to Everything
Overall I really enjoyed my stay. The check-in process at the campground was easy and the staff was super friendly. They also helped me plan my trip to the island, including providing discounted ferry tickets and shuttle bus information (and some tips on what to do when I got to the island). Other staff I met during my stay were always welcoming and friendly. My room was comfortable, clearly newly renovated, and very clean. It was definitely small but just the right size for me as a single traveler. I also appreciated the fact that because the rooms only accommodate one or two people that there weren't children and pets and the noise and commotion that they can bring to a property. The a/c unit appeared new and worked well, and the bed was very comfortable. I also appreciated the morning coffee cabin and the opportunity to visit with other guests outside of our rooms. The location of the motel is great. I would have loved better water pressure and temperature control in the shower, but understand with the age of the property there are some things you have to just live with. WiFi was definitely an issue, however, especially since my phone did not have great service either. While I was on vacation, and not needing to do a lot of work, decent WiFi really is important to be able to stay connected to my personal life as well. I hope that there are plans to correct this, as I definitely plan to stay here again if/when I come back to Northern Michigan.

this hotel is part of a camp ground about half mile away. rooms are quite small but clean. WIFI is nonexistent. their paperwork says you should be able to check emails but not stream anything but i could not even get my emails to load. it appears you can pay at the campground for upgraded wifi to allow streaming but it appears the motel is just not as well serviced. also no fridge. had to use small dorm fridge in the coffee hut to keep my dairy items cold. this is very basic accomodations!

The room was cute and very clean. There is a outdoor pool. The best was by staying at the hotel you receive a pass to the campground 1/2 mile down the road with access to the lake and campfire pits, camp store, outdoor pool and free mini golf. Really nice setup.

Very cute room & quaint furniture! Beautiful bedding & artwork. Missing hangers for our jackets & luggage rack for our suitcases though. Wi Fi was poor if it worked at all. It served its purpose for what we needed.

Serene and clean - great value
This was our 2 nd visit to this motel, it’s updated rooms are clean and rustic looking with the log furniture- we brought a mattress topper to lay on top of mattress , as the mattresses are alittle too hard for me- we love the beautiful landscaping, coffee/tea hut and the trail down to the lake area - surroundings are beautiful and peaceful here- a heck of a value for couples that want a quiet serene getaway !!! We are planning another visit , one in the books and more to come- also, love that we can use camp ground facilities too- the store is nice and just driving thru seeing the campers and smelling the great bonfires brings us back when we camped here!!!!!

Would not stay again
I can tell it had been renovated recently. However the room was barely furnished and incredibly small. Bed was terribly uncomfortable. Air conditioning unit was ancient and hardly worked (could be due to the thick layer of dust on it). My room was infested with fruit flies. With many better options in the area, i will not recommend or stay here again.

The room was nicely done and clean. The bed, however, was so hard there was no give to get comfortable. My Husband slept in his lawn chair, and I had the bed. I slept for about 2 hours and woke up with my leg numb. It was 2AM and we decided not to stay the next night because of the bed.

The hotel is part of the Mill Creek Campgrounds. You have to check in there to get keys, make payments. Room was small and clean, no frills. WiFi was horrible, but that wasn't why we were there so it really wasn't an inconvenience. You have access to all campground amenities if you want to use them. Coffee is available in AM, good and hot. One near feature was a short walk to the Lakeshore. You could bring firewood and watch freighters, see the Bridge in the distance. Overall our stay was good. This is a good option of you plan on using it as a launch pad for your adventures.

We had no television due to a Dish problem. The pool was finally open the day we had to leave. Bathtub drain was very slow.

The nice things we found there was a coffee/tea little cabin conveniently located out back - nice bench area to sit and enjoy the view next to it - parking rite outside door was convenient- the disappointing things were the bed is terrible - very hard!!!!! And the sheets were like rough feeling on your skin- the bedding looked old and not too clean ( we brought our own blankets/pillows and glad we did!!!! The room had a bad odor to it we both noticed … the carpet needs a good cleaning to - bathroom was small but clean - the worker couple’s we ran into there were very nice and helpful!!!! Nice staff!!!! No hairdryers even tho when called told me there was …. Pool was closed due to service issues- so will we stay again?? Probly not - we love and stayed at campground for years - but the motel needs some paying attention to -

Great visit
It was great. The room was listed as "no frills" but I feel a table would be nice? We had 2 chairs and no table. The outlet on the wall, facing the entrance also did not work. We would stay again. Grabbed some none perishables at the local store and ate out.

Owner/manager is very agreeable. We changed the dates of our trip to the following weekend, which was fine with them. Then we had to cancel, so we can't provide any details about the property. Unfortunately, we had booked through Orbitz, which we'll never do again; the policy at Orbitz is no refund for cancellation -- even with several days advanced notice. Happy with Mackinaw; no more Orbitz!

This is a very clean, relatively modern motel. The best thing about it is the private two lane road out the back that takes you to the lake and a beautiful view of Mackinaw Bridge. Take your coffee or a meal with you on the walk--there are picnic tables. The second best thing is the little coffee kiosk in the middle of the L the motel makes. Hot water 24 hours, with tea bags. Free hot coffee in the morning. There is not a lot of furniture, though, and our room, 12, could really have used some suitcase stands or a table inside the front door to set things on. The furniture consisted of a bed, one side table, and two rustic chairs. Nice decor, with a pretty print on the wall. A good woody view out the back window, so I kept the blind rolled up. Beautiful original yellow tile in the bathroom. I'd stay here again, but maybe bring my own extra side table and one extra lamp!

Highly recommend
The stay itself was amazing. Staff are friendly as ever and suggest places to visit. The beds are the only thing that was semi iffy. Definitely not the best but considering the reviews of other places in the area its a steal. The private beach was perfect for the views of the bridge, sunset/sunrise, and mackinac island. They also have a firepit that is available which made the night starviewing better then ever. Definitely a place for couples rather then families.
