“Staff was friendly, the room was clean. The things I didn’t like, was the parking lot wasn’t plowed properly, it was chunked up with ice which made it hard to carry things back and fourth let alone walking out to the car was difficult. The water from the faucets had an aweful taste, they had a vending machine but it was empty. They offered a filtered water option at the front desk but that wasn’t working either. They did have wifi but the TVs weren’t setup to use it, they did have cable but if...

“DO NOT STAY HERE! First thing we noticed when we walked in was the hallways smelled like weed so bad you could get high just walking through there(words from the lady working there). We got zero sleep from snowmobiles rolling in at all hours, drunk people in the hallways, people swimming at 1am. Breakfast was terrible. I had two rooms and neither blow dryer worked. The beds were very loud. Theres people who live there and get to free range the hotel, bringing their dogs into the restaurant....

“Room was very nice. Great updates. HOWEVER...something needs to be adjusted on the heating vent system. When it goes on "click, click, click"...and 3 LOUD metallic bangs with same bangs repeating when it turns off. I slept from 3:30 am to 4:45 am. ”

“I was looking for a stay for just one night. It was an unexpected stay due to prior arrangement the next morning I wanted a place that was simply clean and comfortable. Didn’t need anything that was crazy and I wanted something that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. This place fit the bill looks to be an older building that has been upgraded, which I don’t mind and everything was clean, tidy, and the bed was comfortable.”

“It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter.
