I’d done a bit of research prior to booking my stay in Marrakech and Riad Dar Zaman came up as a “hidden gem” on several, so I booked it without too much hesitation. Even so, I was surprised at the care that began before our tip even began. Peter, the owner, began communication pretty soon after booking to let us know about amenities (including a transfer from the airport, which we booked). He also responded on the same thread when I had questions in the months leading up to the trip, which was great. After we were picked up, we were met on the street by a member of the staff who helped us with our bags and navigate the tricky streets of Marrakech. He and the rest of the team got us settled in with tea and a map to orient ourselves. Everyone felt very friendly, welcoming and natural that any sense of disorientation was evaporated almost immediately. in fact, the hospitality from the very beginning was uncharted and this was me flying in after taking a cruise!
The property itself was gorgeous! The room was small but very comfortable. The AC worked quickly to cool the room down. The bedding was naturally cooling. The riad was tucked far enough back from the main streets that you don’t hear any noise at all when you close the door. It’s clearly in an active neighborhood but at no point did we feel unsafe. Just be aware of motor bikes, regular bikes, and donkeys (yup) because they have right of way! It’s a relatively easy walk to major attraction you’d want to go to.

Been coming back to this small family-style Riad a few times now, and can´t imagine staying anyplace else. A super short walk to the Medina and the best place to come home and rest up after an exhausting day of walking and shopping.
A great little Riad - only 4 bedrooms, in the oldest part of the Medina - be prepared for narrow streets. The Riad was super quiet, yet really convenient for all the sites. The staff were super helpful - especially Hassan and Adil. They really made our stay a success
The Riad is in a quiet area, off the busy streets. The staff are wonderful and care about your stay there. Breakfast is charming and if you have your evening meal there, the food is great!
This was a delightful little riad! It was quiet and peaceful. They were able to accommodate our vegan diet at breakfast and it's within walking distance to one of the only vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Marrakech.
I wanted to stay at a traditional Moroccan riad and this property did not disappoint. It is nestled in the heart of a vibrant community but once inside guests are greeted with tranquility, Moroccan tea of course, and lots of hospitality. I loved our room, the breakfast and eating out on the rooftop garden. I would highly recommend if you want an authentic, non-commercial experience.

Hassan our host was extremely helpful and so nice. Breakfast was amazing! But our room was way too small and air conditioning wasn’t working well and it was hot!!!
We had a lovely experience at the Riad Dar Zaman. We felt very welcomed by the super trio: Peter, Hassan and Adeen. They would go far and beyond to accommodate and make our stay was stress free. The breakfast was delicious with a lovely selection of fresh produce. It has been an absolute pleasure to stay in this petit paradise in the heart of Marrakesh. We highly recommend this jewel! LGBT friendly.
I liked everything about this Riad. Yassine made sure to explained over to me as soon as I made iT. Him and the staff were incredible. I recommend staying at this Riad. It’s so low key and you wouldn’t know that it’s in the area.
Nous y avons passé un très bon séjour, le personnel a été au petit soin, très gentil.
Le cadre rend le service et la communication très personnel.
Le seul point négatif serait le manque de luminosité dans la chambre.
Merci
Fantastic staff. Hassan and Peter were very helpful, but really so also was everyone else. If you can handle the all day length of the trip, I highly recommend the visit to Ouarzazate and Ait bin Haddou.
This Riad is approached through narrow twisting alleys past broken buildings, buildings being mended and appears unpromising at first. Once inside this is a haven of peace and as Yasmine told us on arrival "this is your home for the next few days so you are now part of the family". Yasmine and Hassan who cover nights and days respectively are so very helpful, kind and polite. They provide yards of information and as we were first timers in Marrakech they gave us so many survival tips as well as information, directions and advice on the best places to visit and eat in 3 days. We also met Peter who is the English owner but who now lives offsite. Again he was generous and helpful and made us feel really welcome. The room was unique in our experience and appeared to be consistent with the north African styles which we experienced but very comfortable and compact. Breakfast was superb and we took dinner on the first evening which again was delightful. We had our own key to come and go and there was always a refreshing drink of mint tea on arrival from a busy day walking round Marrakech.
We can't recommend this enough, the riad is beautiful, the bedrooms are lovely and the breakfast is delicious but none of this compares to the wonderful hospitality afforded to us by Hassan and his colleagues. He met us on arrival, provided us with a brilliant welcome to Marakech. including some great reccomendations for food. Overall all the staff were so kind and helpful that we felt like royalty for a weekend.
