Ryokans in Minamiaizu District

I think very few gaijin go this far out. Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March Overall I’m glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture.

The Yunomori onsen ryokan was one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The Kaiseki breakfast and dinner was incredible and the staff were 10/10 amazing. We had an in-room onsen and it was perfect. The entire place was clean and incredibly cozy. I would absolutely recommend Yunomori to anybody! It's a short walk to Yuno Lake nearby and also some beautiful waterfalls. I highly recommend this place to stay in Nikko. It was a very special experience for us.

I should have booked 2 nights to really enjoy! Everything was excellent. My 1st time in Japan and this was lovely. Staff checking me in spoke great English. I booked a huge tatami room and had a balcony overlooking the river. There is a turn-down service while you’re at dinner. Buffet was fantastic and the whiskey was not watered down at all! This place was absolutely wonderful! My first time experiencing an onsen and it was amazing. The shuttle pick up and drop off from the train station was great. The welcoming staff at check in/check out. The room I selected was AMAZING!! So serene and quiet. I got the private bath with my room, and boy was it relaxing. Really fun place for a relaxing getaway especially to socialize with your close friends or significant others. There is not much to do in the area unless you have a car.

We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a city view, and the view from the 12th floor was amazing. We arrived before 3:00 p.m., and our room was ready within five minutes. However, we noticed a large dust ball on the floor, which concerned us slightly since we slept directly on the floor for two nights. Really nice spa and staff.

Beautiful ryokan just steps away from some of the most iconic Nikko destinations. We stayed there for 2 days and were able to walk to everything. The ryokan is spotless, restful, and the dinners and breakfasts were marvelous.
