"Had a great stay that definitely met our expectations. Room was beautiful and comfortable with much needed AC. Perfect, relaxing location with a beautiful pool and beach. The hotel has a newer chef who has upgraded the food which we enjoyed so much we didn’t feel the need to schlep into the busy town. Would definitely stay here again if we ever make our way back to Sri Lanka one day. The hotel also provides but they seem to be around especially if one is sensitive. Also special mention to the owner who is super friendly and hands-on enduring that the guests’ needs are being met. Thank you! "

"We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Coco Tangalle , we stayed in the King Coco room & it was an amazing space , large with our own private patio . Suresh looked after us during our stay & was very helpful . We would have liked to see a small refrigerator in our room & tea/coffee facilities however Suresh was very happy to place our wine in their fridge & serve it on request , he also bought us a pot of tea every morning . Gorgeous restaurant & pool with staff always ready to assist , would happily stay again "

"Sensational stay at this beach front property. Personable and considered hospitality from all staff. Delicious and good value food menu with good seafood options on the beach. The beach itself is a quiet and beautiful stretch on to the ocean with clean sand and warm, swimmable waves. Big and clean rooms and bathrooms. Comfortable bed with firm mattress. We would love to visit again. "

"Extremely expensive for what l would call a 2 star hotel in Europe. Trash everywhere, located in a narrow side street, with no proper beach. A clean toproof swimming pool BUT in a unfriendly area with no sun umbrellas and in desperate need for renovation. Cracked shower walls, luke water only, rusty and shabby furniture. No TV and no phone. The view was nice in front of the hotel (if you ignore the trash) but empty lots on each side, which didnt make it interesting to explore. Poor breakfast and super dirty kitchen we accidentally went into. Staff hanging at the reception instead of tyding or cleaning. No shops or restaurants in the vecinity, we took tuktuk to Mirissa (300-500 LKR for one way). Noone at the reception between 10pm and 8am! And they didnt even bother to come clean our room while we stayed there."

"I must be honest at first I was a bit sceptical about staying in this place. The pictures just didn’t make me feel like it would be a place I want to stay at. So I booked just a few days and then I ended up extending my stay and I stayed here for two weeks I absolutely loved it. The guys that work here were always so attentive and anything I needed or wanted just to make my stay more comfortable. They would always try to get for me. I am so grateful for everyone who works here. I felt safe. I felt taken care of. I will definitely be back. I miss it here every day."

"Every member of staff that we met from arrival to departure was fantastic. Very polite, courteous & extremely helpful. Catered for all our needs. We booked this place last minute due to having to change our original plan (Kandy & Ella) because of the recent Cyclone. Although Lagoon Gate can appear a little isolated it is an absolute gem as you are in and amongst nature & right on the Lagoons edge. It is so easy to get out & about, the staff will order Tuk Tuks or Taxis for you or if you feel adventurous you have free use of bikes which we made full use of. Also, the hotel provides use of Kayaks to use on the Lagoon. The rooms are spacious & very clean overlooking Rekawa Lagoon. We had evening meals in the hotel on several occasions & I have to say, the authentic Sri Lankan Curry was outstanding! Breakfast is delightful with a good choice & freshly made. Would definitely recommend this place. Arrived as guests, left as friends!"
