Lovely location and accommodation Only criticism was we stayed at the coldest night of the year so far and our room was very cold the next morning as there was no heating apart from an electric fan in the bathroom

Delightful! Our room was spacious and comfortable with an idyllic rural outlook. Hosts Daphne and Phillip were so kind and welcoming and breakfast was delicious and very generous. We hope to stay again some time.

Fantastic breakfast
Interesting B & B. Owners live in a separate house within the grounds and the Lodge is occupied by the guests in well appointed bedrooms with a shared lovely lounge heated by a giant log burner on the ground floor. There is an honesty box for any wine or whisky consumed from the selection available in the lounge during the evening. Breakfast is communal with the delightful owners (currently Swiss) cooking the amazing breakfast in the adjacent kitchen area in the morning. The whole experience was very informal and it was a delight to stay there.

Murchison Magic
A beautiful & historic lodge with a nice balance of old & new. Room was very modern & comfortable with nice roomy bathroom 😊 Full breakfast was great with lots of home grown & home made yummies. Oh and a daily offering of home made cookies really makes you feel at home. Hosts could not have been more helpful or friendly - would definitely recommend staying here 👍

Quiet and Comfortable
We stayed here while driving from the South Island to the North Island. It was a lovely place to stop, relax and recharge after doing a lot of driving. We had dinner at the lodge and it was delicious and fresh, all from their garden, and I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

This is a beautiful lodge with really lovely views all around. Easy access, convenient to town and recreational activities. Breakfast was fabulous!

Cozy accommodation for stopover
Room was cozy and clean. Host was very friendly and offered suggestions for dinner nearby. Breakfast was lovely. We suggest to leave out the supermarket bread when delicious homemade bread is available.

We mostly stayed at motels during our stay in NZ, and this was a true bed and breakfast and a lovely change. The hosts were very friendly, and the lodge has three rooms with ensuites (three couples and an extra room for a child, as no bathroom). The space was lovely. We shared with one other couple and they were friendly but I imagine that even if there was full capacity it wouldn't be an issue as there were lots of different areas to sit and talk or have your own space without feeling forced to be social. You can use the kitchen for snacks, but not to cook a meal (although as it wasn't fully booked, they allowed us to heat up some dinner). They have a brilliant coffee maker. And breakfast was a true European type breakfast. You had a choice of juice, cereals, cold meats and then our host cooked up bacon and eggs with toast! There is no TV, but lots of board games, but the property is lovely and we can all survive without tv. I loved it. We stayed in February 2019.

Lovely place in a nice setting. The hosts were excellent and the breakfast was second to none. We did pay £140 per night which was the top end of our budget, so it was bit expensive.

The hosts were very personable and helpful and multilingual. The room was comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. Murchison is a great stopover place, but I think there is more potential to be had from staying there and touring the woods, hills, river and small town than most people would normally plan to achieve. We could have stayed longer if we had the time.

Good place to stop on your way from Abel Tasman to the west coast. Lovely BnB with a great breakfast, comfortable room, beautiful property, and friendly hosts. This was one of our favorite accommodations on our 3-week trip.

Everything was spectacular! The location is beautiful and close to town if you need to stop for something. There is an outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy the Mountain View while listening to the birds sing. The two owners are so kind and provide a wonderful breakfast spread in the morning with made to order eggs. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through the area!

The Murchison Lodge is a small B&B with 4 rooms. It is nicely located in a beautiful garden. The hosts Daphne and Philip are awesome in their hospitality. The room was nice and clean. I can recommend the Murchison Lodge.

Excellent stay for one night on the way back to Picton having visited the glaciers. The hosts live next door and are very friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and the range was impressive, particularly the dairy free yoghurt.

Excellent stay!
Phillip and Daphne were wonderful hosts. Their inn is beautiful and they made sure that we were comfortable and satisfied-- and we were! I highly recommend their inn to anyone.
