Workshop Vintti focuses on learning through experimentation and personal experience. It is excellent for children and adults. Activities include building an early 20th-century brick and log house and harnessing a horse.

Observe many fascinating items in the National Museum of Finland’s permanent collection, such as frescoes by Swedish-speaking Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela and an elk-head soapstone sculpture dating to the Stone Age. The museum also displays many items relating to the development of Finnish culture from the 12th century to the early 20th century.

The museum building is an exquisite structure reflecting Finland’s medieval castles and churches. This stunning building was competed in the early 20th century. It features national romantism-style architecture and art nouveau-style interiors. Notice the bear statue by Finnish sculptor Emil Wikström next to the museum’s entrance.

This outstanding museum also has a café where you can purchase coffee, light meals and pastries. Visit the museum shop for children’s toys, books, jewelry, souvenirs, posters, handicrafts and many more items. The museum is open year-round, Tuesday to Sunday, excluding public and religious holidays. Discounted admission fees apply for concession holders and groups of more than 10 guests.

This is an incredibly detailed museum. It's very interesting, but probably not ideal for kids.

All Museums in Helsinki are closed on Monday's so plan your trip around that.
