Definitely a unique experience. If you've ever wanted a "The Shining"-like experience, this is the place. It's an old, spooky palace and there were only two other couples in the whole building the night we stayed. The staff goes home for the night, and it really felt like we were in this big palace alone (we only saw the other couples at breakfast). The decor is quite peculiar as well, in our room we had a drawing on the wall of what I assume was the original tenant, and another piece of art with British soldiers all facing away from the viewer (think Blair Witch Project). There are a lot of interesting places to explore on the property - poorly lit caves, a terrace with an old decrepit greenhouse and a trail that leads into the hills where we saw a deer. We were searching for the place where they keep the bodies, but alas we did not find it.
But seriously, it's a beautiful palace with a great breakfast and you should stay here unless you are easily creeped out by old, isolated mansions.
