The hotel itself is nice, the room is pretty big and so is the bathroom. The location is convenient in that you can easily access Manhattan, but the area surrounding the hotel is very industrial and a bit sketchy.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in in Long Island City, just 2 subway stops from Manhattan. Nice size room with a great bathroom. Very clean. Great value. Area around hotel is a little rugged though no one bothered us even at night. Very limited dining options nearby except for chains. Staff charged $20 to store luggage before checkin or after checkout. I will stay at hotel again.

Terrible. Someone checked me out of my room before Check out, signed for me and everything. That’s gotta be illegal. Then they kept my license and refused to send it back. Never staying here again. The guy at the front desk sucks at his job. Don’t stay here if you don’t have to. The rooms are nice tho.

The neighbourhood is not the greatest, the hotel is nice, clean and new, but the water in the shower is just warm, and not hot, the staff is friendly but lacks on the attention to cleaning details- we found hairs in the towels and there was not enough shampoo/ body wash in the bathroom.

"Minimal amenities throughout. No dresser or storage for clothing, no tissues provided, basic toiletries only. Bed had just two pillows and one thin sheet. Bathroom had pink mold in the shower. The room felt more like a party crash pad than a hotel - huge fridge but nowhere to unpack. At this price point, understand you're sacrificing basic comforts and cleanliness standards. If you need actual hotel amenities, book elsewhere."

Walls were paper thin, I was on 1st floor and could hear everything happening outside and in the lobby as well as the elevator dinging at all hours of the night. Once, I was woken up at 5am by a couple arguing loudly. The hotel is in a sketchy area near the projects so it felt unsafe walking to and from subway. The blowdryer was broken so I had to be let in to another room to dry my hair. Requests for an extra blanket, pillow and iron were not handled in a timely manner. There is no phone in the room to call reception. Got stuck in elevator twice, once with the manager who laughed it off. It wasn’t a pleasant stay and I would not stay there again.

When I read the other reviews, admittedly I was hesitant because there was definitely a concern for safety. Having now stayed, the hotel is in prime location for venturing around New York and very easily accessible to everywhere. The concerns are because upon immediately exiting the train station (and we arrived late at night), it can feel as if you have walked straight into danger. This is an unfair representation of the area which basically, is a lot of locals simply living in an underfunded and poor community. The local white guy at the convenience store fiddled us whereas the looming black gangster said “good morning” whilst walking a beloved dog. Perception is a key component of whether you feel safe in this underprivileged area. Yes, there are safer areas which come with a hefty bill. Or there is this place where the convenience to exploring is top notch at basic prices, so long as you can forgo the noise and drama.
