Schwedische Herzlichkeit im französsichen Chateau
Ein wunderschönes Schloss direkt am Jakobsweg und fantastische Gastgeber! Die Schlosseherren sind völlig unkomplizierte Schweden. Obwohl wir es nicht erwarten konnten, zauberten uns die Beiden ein fantastisches Abendessen, dass das beste der französischen und schwedischen Küche verband. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und auch die netten Gespräche bleiben uns in angenehmer Erinnerung.

Beau séjour dans ce château, mais un peu cher, car les chambres on besoin de rénovation. Le cadre est cependant superbe, même si le parc mérite aussi un bon rafraichissement !

Return visit
This was our second stay at Château de la Motte, which provides us with a convenient stopover on our way to family in Italy. We were welcomed back like old friends by Liliane and Henrik and, having emailed them in advance to arrange it, we had dinner with them. They have been busy during the year since our last visit, maintaining and refreshing the château which however retains its charm and beauty. Our family suite was comfortable and spacious, but we knew that from last year. Liliane provided us with extra towels for our pre-breakfast swim in the outdoor pool, and Henrik was as attentive as ever at breakfast (we were the only guests, possibly due to a glitch on another booking site). We set off on our journey rested and refreshed, determined to return and perhaps stay for longer another time.

Fantastic chateau with fantastic hosts
Great accommodation - very welcoming and friendly hosts. The food was excellent in quality and superb, yes, superb, value for money. Eat in in the evenings - don't bother with elsewhere. Great pool in the chateau's extensive grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit bei allen Fragen. Das Frühstück ausgezeichnet und sehr lecker . Außerdem hat uns das gemeinsame Frühstück mit den anderen Gästen gut gefallen. Die Zimmer waren sehr schön.

Great experience and the owners are the most lovely people I have met in years!! I absolutely recommend this hotel both for business as well as for pleasure. If you want to sleep in a chateau and want to avoid hotels that all look the same, this is the place to go!!!!

Stopever which left us wishing for a longer stay.
Delightful stay: Château itself is a jewel, but hosts' welcome made our stay special. Rang ahead to confirm arrival time and availability of dinner; arrived 30 minutes before dinner, but no problem coming down a bit late after showering and changing; dinner very nice and accommodating for our kids (13 and 11, who aren't, however, difficult about food). Stroll in grounds after dinner. Swim in open air pool before abundant breakfast. Setting off to continue our journey was like leaving friends. We regularly stay in this area on journey to family in Italy: this was a bit of a treat but, considering hospitality (including dinner for four, and pool, not excessively expensive. Our 'family room ' was, in fact, a two bedroom suite with bathroom and sitting room in one of the towers. Liliane and Henrik clearly enjoy getting to know their guests, but were not intrusive. We plan to stay with them again on future trips. BTW, not our Aston Martin in the photo!

Noch in der Renovierung befindliches Hotel
Das Hotel hat einen erheblichen Renovierungsstau. Zwar ist das Bemühen der Eigentümer erkennbar, das alte Schloß denkmalgerecht zu sanieren, allerdings sind die Sanierungsarbeiten erst im Anfangsstadium, vieles liegt noch im Argen. Der Schloßherr ist ein ausgesprochen netter, hilfsbereiter und auskunftsfreudiger Mann.

Chateau de la Motte at Noailly was excellent in every way. The room was spacious. The Swedish couple who run the small business were welcoming and attentive. We very quickly felt part of the family . Excellent.

A quirky Chateau in the french countryside
We found this property to be a charming, quirky, if slightly tired, chateau in the French countryside. There's nothing much around its location but would be perfect for secluded walks. Owners were very helpful and nice. There's a meal offered each night but we travelled to the nearby nearest significant town - about 15 mins drive away - for dinner so can't comment. Breakfast was charming.

Hôtel calme, ambiance et grand parc agréables
Logés dans un grande suite/appartement avec nos deux petits enfants, avec une magnifique vue sur le parc et la piscine depuis les deux chambres et le petit salon situé dans une tourelle d'angle, nous avons trouvé un confort tout à fait satisfaisant dans une ambiance et un décor "à l'ancienne". "C'est le paradis" a dit notre petite fille de sept ans.

Special Hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at Château de la Motte. The owners went out of their way to be friendly and we loved our whole holiday. The chateau has loads of character, is in lovely grounds and is a special place to stay. We appreciated the excellent furnishings and enjoyed tremendous food each evening served terrific surroundings. If you want a standard B&B then this is not for you but if you are looking for something different, in a great location and with loads of character and interesting features and fabulous rooms then Château de la Motte could work for you.

Real castle but with the comforts
We happened to come to this place on the way from Vichy to Lyon; it’s not far from either. The castle is extremely beautiful. It has a big park with a little pond and a summerhouse, and a pool. Location is peaceful and not far from a little village. All the furniture and decorations are stylish and fit perfectly in the old castle. However, the bathrooms are comfortable and the heating works. The Swedish couple owning and managing the place is very friendly and devoted to what they do. They speak several languages and are present with their quests. The dinner was excellent and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our stay.

Une curiosité!
Accueil sympathique dans la tradition des chambres d'hôtes. Il faut encourager ce couple suédo-irlandais qui s'est lancé dans la restauration de ce château avec beaucoup de courage. Le cadre est fantastique et vous transporte pour un retour en arrière. Ici pas de télé ni wifi mais un magnifique parc à l'anglaise avec des arbres centenaires. La chambre est spacieuse, la déco respectueuse du cadre, les meubles anciens, la table excellente! Les sujets de conversation ne manquent pas; l'hôtesse défend ses convictions religieuses et politiques. Une rencontre édifiante d'un point de vue sociologique!

Une bien belle adresse nichée dans la campagne roannaise.Cadre féerique pour ce pavillon de chasse qui ressemble d'ailleurs plus à un château de conte de fée.Accueil&repas aux petits oignons.....par des Suèdois.Petit déjeuner plein de douceurs maison face au parc ou, avec un peu de chance, on peut admirer les chevreuils.Chambre Victor Hugo douillette et authentique.Hors du temps, ici tout est doux,doux comme de la suèdine.Merci.

Accueil chaleureux dans un lieu d'exception
Séjourner au Château de la Motte est en somme une expérience onirique et, même si l'entretien est perfectible (on le comprend avec 1 200 m² de planchers et 7 ha de parc), la pâtine de l'ancien et le charme daté des lieux font vivre un moment "historique". Les environs sont splendides et le cadre est calme. Les chambres sont vastes et très propres. Nous vous recommandons Victor Hugo avec son cabinet de toilette XVIIIème logé dans la tourelle. Liliane et Henrik sont absolument adorables et partagent volontiers leur connaissance du site et de ses environs. Avec eux, vous pourrez aborder l'histoire, l'architecture, l'art, la gastronomie, l'oenologie, etc. Ils sont chaleureux et dévoués. Ils m'ont même renvoyé à domicile un gilet en cachemire oublié dans la chambre ! Nous les remercions encore pour cette pause enchantée sur notre route.
