Really enjoyed our stay at American Inn Chesapeake- Portsmouth Virginia. I recommend this hotel for anyone that is traveling and needs a place to stay. The hotel was quite at night so you can sleep. Stay there if you get a chance but bring your own coffee if you are a coffee drinker like my husband

I would stay there again. Had a nice family oriented business and front desk was very nice as well as a job well done. I enjoyed my environment and as well as corporation from front desk with my service animal. Very spacious room and a very nice set up in the room.

Read several reviews before I booked and there was about the same for bad and good. Wanted to try a new place outside of va beach because I’m just here for work. Front looked decent ish. Got to the window to check in and the lady was very nice. Pulled around back and it was another world. Got into my room And just plain terrible. The mold and paint peeling, nasty sticky carpet, 80’s bedding, gross bathroom. I was tired and figured I’d lay on the bed clothed not even taking off my shoes and at least get some sleep. Didn’t feel like taking a shower at that point was a good idea. Fell asleep to be woken up at 12am to no power. Called it then, got my stuff and tried to sleep in my truck the rest of the night. Absolutely no go, I would not bring my family to a place like this none the less let my dog be in this place. Definitely do not stay here, I don’t know how places like this don’t get shut down.

The staff was very nice and friendly (the female staff and elderly man who was part of the cleanning staff), there was however a middlenage gentleman that waas not always in the greatest of moods and did not ever honor anyknind of discount price regaedless how many nights we stayed. The way the housing situation is right now you would think discounted rates would be honored a little better. Overall the numerous times we stayed i was pleased.

Stayed here 2 evenings, not too many issues aside from leftover belongings like fake eyelashes stuck in the bathroom, a sock and some hair. Our rooms were non-smoking though one reeked of tobacco when we first arrived. Not the hotels fault that someone smoked in it but we wonder if it was checked prior. Beds were comfy and staff was nice and accommodating to any problems we had.

Would stay again

When we go away, we look for inexpensive, a place to sleep, preferably comfy, which the bed was nice, and be able to bathe...it had a garden/jacuzzi tub that was inoperable, so the shower was fine. It could use a tad bit of updating but it was great for what we wanted. I would have liked another bath towel and rag, but we made do. I shower twice a day, so....it was a great area, noise wasn't a problem because we always carry a fan, its what we're used to at home. It was a non smoking room and there were no odors as I've read in some reviews. Would I go back ? Yes, definitely ! It was a little out of the way for our venue, but that was my fault. Enjoyed it very much !!!
