The Imperial Hotel

The Imperial Hotel

8/10 Good
"There was a unexpected delay at the 3pm check-in, due to the number of guests waiting and not enough staff behind the counter. For those with mobility problems there was no sign to indicate that there was a side entrance which would allow one to enter the building without trying to climb steps. The daily breakfast was very good, but the one evening meal fame was more which we tried was a disaster for my wife. The chicken was uncooked in the centre. a replacement was provided 20 mins later, which was inedible due to its drieness and the so-called chips were not chips, but a mixture of chips and cheesy sauce. My plate of food was good, but it would have better if we had eaten at the same time. The room offered on the 3rd floor was one of the better parts of our stay. Small but very clean and the ensuite was ecellent, including the walk-in shower - perfect. We were lucky. Some we spoke with changed rooms for various reasons. The bar could be wide ranging, but pricey, in line with expected modern-day standards. To sumarise. It is an old building. Built for a forgone age, when staff were plentiful and money was in the hands of the rich.and famous, for example Charles Dickens, who consided it a worthy place to stay. I have nothing but praise for work they try and do, especially in the dining room, where the waitress attended to my wife's complaint of poorly cooked plate of food."

The Mill Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"Under rated as a 3 start hotel, should be higher. Reception, restaurant and bar staff all very friendly. Converted mill which has details of the buildings past through out.Evening meal was outstanding and the breakfast far better than expected. Plentiful, choice and well presented. The spa section, pool jacuzzi, steam and saune room, excellent. Did not get time to go into the gym but every type of self induced torture machine available (next time?). Highly recommend and will stay here again. Thanks to all. Only down part was the price of parking but the lack parking areas does seem to be a local issue."

Norbreck Castle Hotel Blackpool

Norbreck Castle Hotel Blackpool

"On arrival the hotel looks dated. Reception area & main entertainment bar area is more modern & clean. Staff are great. Helpful, extremely friendly & can’t do enough for you. Our room wasn’t the cleanest. Skirts / window ledges extremely dusty. Bedding was clean & hotel was very quiet considering how many people were staying in it. Entertainment on an evening was great. Bar prices extremely reasonable for a hotel. Pool was great & for an extra £2.50 for me & my son this was an added bonus. Would I stay here again ??? Probably cause the good outweighed something I corrected with a few wet wipes."

"A great location for flying from Manchester. Nicely priced, nice rooms although the very narrow bath tubs are a problem, suggesting the hotel is need of updating. We like to hit the restaurant the night before flying but remain amazed that we are unable to charge restaurant bills to our room - so old fashioned."

"Great place, great staff, great atmosphere but yet again only one lift was working. This isn’t the first time this has happened when we have stayed. Drags the place down. Need to get it sorted once and for all !"
