Disappointed with the room we were given with not having a shower after asking the owner about this he expected us to uses the fitting on the bath and stand with it in one hand over your head to shower very awkward all the other rooms had showers fitted to the wall

Weekends away

Enjoyed stay small room but good value for money staff very friendly good base for visiting surrounding towns/villages ,food in the evening not available at black swan due to retirement but had lovely meal at the Bolton Arms,which is a two minute walk from black swan.

Good base

The room was more than ok, TV and tea/coffee facilities. It was a single room and not a bad size. For the money it was perfect, only negative was access was through the pub so you had to be back by closing time.

Time with family

The bed was very good and we all had a great nights sleep. The only thing I would have liked was the breakfast a little later as 8.30 on a Sunday morning was a little early. However the breakfast was worth gettin up for.

Nice clean room, comfortable bed. Only downside was they only take cash for everything so make sure if you haven't prepaid to take cash and breakfast finished at 08.30 a.m on a Sunday so not much of a lie in! Breakfast was ok but no choice you basically get what you are served they don't take your order.

Comfortable bed on the 3rd floor so quiet and a good nights sleep. Small tv, drinks equipment provided and a small chair. Three mirrors in room also Small bathroom off the bedroom, guessing the shower door was removed at some point and a curtain jn pkace

Very friendly, great welcome and lovely setting in the beautiful market town of Leyburn. Food was good and the breakfast generous and set us up for the day. Very accommodating as we had to leave by 8am. Very warm and friendly place.

Had read some bad reviews about the landlord so was a bit worried, but our stay was fab. Room very clean and comfortable. Really crisp bedding and lovely white towels. Right on the market place so position perfect.

Old hotel with character in the middle of the Mark

I spent 4 nights here, touring the Dales each day and spending the evenings in the hotel.

Good central location.

Nice ‘olde worlde’ hotel. Central for lovely walks. Plenty of nice eating places within walking distance. Friendly hotel staff.

Convenient but stairs difficult

Mix up over breakfast, originally booked bed and breakfast but on checking times for breakfast we're told that we were not booked in and breakfast finishes by 8.30 but on checking bedroom door breakfast finished at 8.45. Result had breakfast elsewhere. Mess over drinks charged for pints actually had halves not rectified until morning. Not an enjoyable stay.

Quiet hotel in the centre of town

The single room is small and basic but is clean and comfortable, with a good TV. It was very good value for someone who is just looking for a place to sleep. The hotel was incredibly quiet.

5-star cleanliness. Breakfast ok. Location superb!

The cleanliness of the rooms and the pub is superb. Facilities were good for the price paid - fluffy, white towels each day, tea/coffee making facilities, TV, shower gel/hand wash & crisp, clean linen on my bed. The breakfast was a bit hit & miss - plenty of cereal, yoghurt & fruit, but the cooked breakfast was a bit sparse and quite greasy. The landlady was lovely, but the landlord, I found to be an odd character. I wouldn’t recommend a room here for anyone with mobility problems, as the rooms are situated at the top of a flight of quite steep, narrow stairs. Location is superb!

In the main square of the delightful Leyburn

I am a Yorkshire man so used to the bluntness but a more welcoming approach would have been appreciated. Family room was reasonably pleasant with two large arm chairs but would have preferred upright chairs and a small table to play with youngster. Breakfast was poor - bacon was overcooked to the brink of being inedible, sausages were similar.No choice of toast - just plain white. Dinner menu prices were looked reasonable but told the haddock had all gone so wandered down the street to Golden Lion where we found very cheery and helpful the staff.
