Checked with hotel owner before booking that we could have a top floor sea view. I booked straight away and sent him an email and received a read receipt. Also on the booking made on Expedia it stated top floor sea view as requested to Martin.
When we arrived we got a small double on the second floor. I showed him the emails and 20 minutes later he said I think I know what must have happened they must have gone into my junk mail. So how did he read them??? It did have a fantastic view. I then read the hotel information booklet that said about the updates that had been made to the hotel with the new zip and link beds. They were all king size in the hotel except two doubles. You would have thought because he had not met our request at least he would have given us a room with a king size bed in it.
We decided to stay out late as to not be interrupted when every one else was coming back in the evening.
Breakfast was nice, but my husband did not like the room being below street level. The two waitresses were exceptionally polite. I would have given them full marks, but I was not happy with the owners wife as she laughed when I asked about the top floor. How rude!
It was a lovely relaxing stay. Breakfasts were lovely - especially home made lemon marmalade and plum jam! Rooms were clean. Sometimes it's just the small things - 4 mugs for a family room and hot chocolate sachets and juices as well as tea, coffee, biscuits. The bunk beds, and indeed the double, had individual lights over - great when kids are keen readers. The room was advertised as not having a sea view - but could see south bay - even if over back yards.
We very much enjoyed two nights' stay at the Greno in October, two adults and two small children sharing a family room.
The hotel was lovely and our host was very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean, tidy, comfortable with an ensuite / shower. Bunk beds for the children and a double bed. The hotel is right on the seafront with a nice walk down to the beach.
The breakfast was fantastic! Really good! Lots of choice with cereals, fruit and a delicious full english made with local ingredients.
We definitely recommend this hotel, perfect for a family break or couples alike.
Aimed more at families than single travellers, but room was well kitted out and comfy. Good location near the castle, with excellent views at the front, less so at the back (although it still counts as a 'sea view'). Breakfast in the basement, but quite tasty.
Fantastic views over North bay, 10 minute walk to South Bay. Perfect location, welcoming staff, nice clean, spacious rooms, fabulous breakfast selection, couldn't fault the place, highly recommend.
the building and contents are of exceptionally good quality, e.g. decorating furnishings carpets etc. breakfast is of a very high standard with plenty of helpings at the self service area (tea coffee fruit juice cerals) The hosts are extremely friendly and very approachable. Only drawback is parking, dificult to find a space especially at busy periods, that is no fault of the hosts, but they do give you parking permits free of charge for the duration of your stay. Will definitely visit again.
Clean and tidy room. Had a family room with king size bed shame it was a split mattress!! Breakfast was good but only available 0830-0930 so no lie in!! On fifth floor with no lift but found that not too bad but check when booking if worried. Location great for us as near pubs and restaurants, but quiet on a night.
