Faded grandeur, well overdue a facelift and a lick of paint. Convenient location.

There is so much potential in this place! A beautiful old grand hotel that looks worn, but with some time and vision it could become a gem. Staff was excellent (especially Brid), breakfast was lovely each day, location and views across Oban Bay were spectacular. We would certainly stay here again and wish the ownership the very best as they seek to revive this lovely old property.

A lovely old hotel on the seafront with gorgeous views. Large room with high ceiling and confortable bed. Bathroom rather old fashioned, but everything worked fine and the shower was particularly good (a real shower not just a trickle like you sometimes get now!). Pleasant bar and restaurant, excellent breakfast.

Room was nice and big with a good shower also, we had a sea view which was excellent, but the hotel really needs a good overhaul , breakfast was good also
The photos did not match the room we got! The staff were great. The location was perfect. The room… a bit scary; in desperate need of a renovation. Maybe some rooms look like the advertising but our certainly did NOT!
Breafast was first class, room was clean and quite. Staff very polite.

The public areas of the hotel were clean and comfortable but my room was downright scruffy. The carpet was fraying in places and although the toilet, sink and shower in the bathroom were clean the room itself was in need of attention. The only good thing about the room was the view! HOWEVER I understand that the hotel is in the process of renovation, in fact work was in progress in one room on my floor so I was probably unlucky in the timing of my visit. I have to say that all the staff I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was EXCELLENT.

The room was fine, we had a nice view. Then the fire alarm went off at 5am, apparently only on the 3rd floor. No staff arrived to tell us what to do, we just assumed we should go back upstairs when the alarm stopped. Then it went off 2 more times. Never was this mentioned by the front desk staff who seemed oblivious. Many of the guests who went down the stairs in the middle of the night were quite elderly. We get it that these things happen, but it would have been helpful to send someone out to reassure or direct the guests.
We would not stay here again.
Good place for a short stay, Great! view btw. Didn't got time to visit the Bar or try the Breakfast menu but by the looks of the ambience it was pretty neat n clean.
The room was nice. In the US the property would most likely be condemed. The walls were peeling apart. The floors in the halls were not solid, they r carpeted but the boards under shifted.

Good location.
Property very tired looking, damaged carpets posing tripping hazard on staircases.
Booked a double bed room but given a queen bed instead, asked to be moved and we were. Room moved into was much better.
Staff was very nice and the location/view was great. Only critique is the property is very tired looking and the lift was broken, which I can understand but it looked like it had been for some time.

Staff were very nice and helpful. Great location and had a room with a view. Shower did not drain at all. Breakfast buffet was good to get the morning started. Overall an average hotel that had parts being renovated. Definitely had the old feeling vibe and very dated.

Breakfast cheap & cheerful not worth the extra £15pppn.
Parking £10 pd!Seemingly mentioned in the tiniest of print!
Room was clean.
Staff friendly.
We only stayed one night. The location is great, right on the water. Very beautiful views. The hotel is old and it shows. The room is very basic, no amenities to mention. The floors seemed unstable and uneven. Not worth the money.
Parking comes at a price of GBP 10 per night.

Charming hotel whose golden days are behind it. Friendly staff and a lovely lounge area.
Nice property , clean and well maintained. Easy and swift check in.
The advertising of the hotel focused a lot on the gym , Golf, Spa and swimming pool facilities, and I was a little annoyed to find out on reading the small print ( after we had booked) that there was a £15 per person charge to use the pool.
We felt that this should be pointed out more prominently as the pool and Spa was one of the main reasons for booking.
