Astor Hotel Athens

10/10 Excellent

"This Hotel was so Great. The Terrace window was so unique to look at the acropolis morning, noon and night. Room was clean, modern. The Bathroom was classy. The staff over the top. The location was perfect. I can’t even begin to describe the staff, courteous, friendly caring.. We would return nightly and sit upstairs on the terrace bar restaurant and just enjoy the view. The restaurant next-door, just a stone throwaway was such a treat and the fresh juice bar across the street and the coffee shop were heavenly being so close. This Hotel is in the perfect spot in the Heart of the city. Safe area and so close to many Restaurants and lil hidden gem shops. Massage was just a few blocks away and heavenly. Make sure to book a terrace room facing the acropolis. if we ever come back to Athens, we’re gonna stay back at this hotel again. Just a great Hotel!!"

Athens Gate Hotel

"This was my third stay at the Athens Gate, nice hotel in a great spot. Lovely views from the rooftop bar, which is also where you have breakfast and dinner. The staff, were, on the whole nice, especially housekeeping, some were not quite as friendly as I remembered. Rooms are nice, and comfortable and the safe is easy to use. Milk is not provided with tea and coffee etc, which would be nice. The views from the rear rooms are nothing special at all, but this is to be expected in a city. I would definitely stay again."

"The hotel was clean and comfortable the room was really nice. The bathroom had a bit of a musty smell but it was small and there wasn’t much ventilation in there so it may have been that. However, housekeeping came every day and the room was always left looking nice. The amenities were great especially the pool and the executive lounge which were great. The staff were very kind and helpful. The restaurant on the roof had lovely bites although we did not love the main dishes and decided not to eat them. Overall a good place to stay in Athens very well located and we really enjoyed our time at the hotel."

"I enjoyed my stay very much at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was excellent. The breakfast had a good selection. The hotel is in a great location. The room could use some updated decor but other than that, it was clean and spacious. I highly recommend this hotel!"

"This was my second hotel in Athens (my first being across from Plaka), and I genuinely preferred staying here out of the two locations! It's a great location, especially if you want to get out of the touristy areas to see more of the local side of Athens. The staff were fantastic (I can't gush enough about how fabulous they were), and the breakfast has a great selection. I was very lucky to get a room upgrade with a balcony. The hotel's aesthetic is really artsy (Athens has a history of street art - you'll be close to neighbourhoods where you can walk around admiring the street art), meticulously kept clean, and the mattress was by far the best I've ever slept on! Like many of the reviews have already said on here, the location is really central, so yes, there can occasionally be unhoused people around. But that's to be expected in the downtown core of any city you live in or travel to, where you just need to be aware of your surroundings. I was solo travelling as a young female, and there was never an instance where I felt unsafe or nervous. Genuinely, don't let that deter you from booking this hotel; you're close to some fantastic neighbourhoods like Psyri where there are streets full of cool bars, restaurants, shops and tavernas, and you are a 20-minute walk from Plaka and the Acropolis. I absolutely would book here again if given the opportunity!"

"We couldn't have stayed anywhere nicer while in Athens. The staff, the service, the excellent dining (amazing chef) and restaurant choices were wonderful. The included breakfast was outstanding. The interior design and furnishings were impeccable. The pool area was like a giant cabana. Even though the rooms were on the small side, it was truly a pleasure to stay there."
