We had a wonderful stay at Morokolo. Carel and Caitlyn were exceptional hosts. Carel’s deep knowledge and genuine passion for the wildlife greatly enhanced our game-viewing experience, and he did so in a thoughtful, unobtrusive way. Caitlyn’s organization and responsiveness were outstanding—truly a 10 out of 10. The rest of the staff were equally helpful and welcoming. The lodge was spotless, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals comfortably.
We had a wonderful stay at Morokolo. The game drives with Niel were among the best we’ve ever been on. The executive suite was private and well appointed. We especially enjoyed the braai boma, the soaking tub, the comfy bed, and the outdoor shower.
The rooms are absolutely beautiful — spacious, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. Everything was spotless and well thought out, making it easy to relax and feel at home while still being immersed in nature. The outdoor shower was a real highlight and added to the feeling of being truly connected to the surrounding environment — such a special touch.
Each room feels completely private; you can’t see or hear your neighbours at all, which makes the experience feel peaceful and exclusive. One of the most unforgettable moments was having elephants, impala, and wildebeest walk right past our room — something truly special and magical to witness.
Carel and Caitlyn were fantastic hosts from start to finish. Carel’s game drives were informative, fun, and incredibly engaging — he spotted so many animals and made each drive a memorable experience. You can really feel the passion and care they put into what they do.
This stay was truly unforgettable, and we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique, immersive safari experience.
Game rangers Neil and newly appointed Carel were fantastic. They are so passionate about their jobs and so knowledgeable.
We had wonderful game drives with fabulous sightings of 4 of the Big Five. The leopard alluded us despite Neil and Carel's best efforts.
Only small criticism is that lighting in the lounge of the Executive Suite was poor. It was impossible to read or play cards in the evening. The room needs better lighting.
A fantastic stay though. Highly recommended.
Morokolo Safari Lodge has exceeded our expectations. From the hospitality from Jacqie upon arrival, to the knowledgeable game drives by Riaan. Not even to mention the luxurious accommodation. Will definitely return to Morokolo Lodge
(1) Was disappointed with the room. I specifically asked for a Kingsize bed but got 2 small beds which were only converted into a bigger bed the following day. The first night was extremely uncomfortable.
The room cupboards looked old with peeling finishing/trimmings.
(2) The food quality and variety were far below expectations especially in view of the money paid.
(3) Game viewing really not informative; guide was merely driving around, sharing very little knowledge of game and birds.(4) Overall, a total expensive letdown.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Underwhelming experience
Hotel is nice and well decorated. Game drives are cut short because of kitchen schedule demands. I go to the bush for the wildlife, not to be cut short because a cook that wants to run his kitchen on a clock. Food is served buffet style anyway, so what is the rush?
Convenient location, close to Jhb, but overall disappointing.
My wife and I stayed here for one night in October and found it to be fantastic. the staff were great, the facilities are beautiful and that game drives productive. the meals are served at a nearby lodge and were very good. I am sorry I only got to stay one night but it is highly recommended!
My biggest disappointment in this establishment is arriving and finding out that there is no wifi at the lodge even though it lists that it does. They offer wifi ONLY in the restaurant, which you only go to twice a day for meals--not to lounge about and be on your laptop, etc.
Other than that, I would agree that the rooms themselves are slightly outdated and rundownish--but not enough for me to not want to return. Let's just say that the paint and decor looks a lot nicer in the photos than it does in real life.
Very comfy beds, very large and very cool bathrooms with tub, shower, and outdoor shower.
The pool shouldn't really be called a pool--it should be called a dipping area of water. It is literally the smallest "pool" I have ever seen.
Game drives were a 10/10 experience, and service at the hotel and restaurant was fantastic.
The biggest question that any review comes down to is: Would I return to this lodge if I were back in the Pilanesberg area?
I'd answer that with a Yes.
Wonderful time spent in game reserve. Great game drives into Pilanesberg game reserve. Riaan and Jacqui were wonderful hosts along with all th folk at the black rhino lodge where we were taken for breakfast and dinner .
Was soll dass ???
