I enjoyed my one night at this hotel. The people who picked me up at the airport were wonderful--it was like being picked up by longtime friends. Their English was much better than my Spanish so communication was fine. Check in was easy, and they showed me how to use the keys, what was offered in the kitchen, and talked about the local area. I was greeted in the morning with a cup of tea, and she made sure I had advice on what to do with my day, how to find things, and how to get back into the hotel with the key. But when I returned later there was no staff, or other guests either, and I was alone in a dark building. I am sure when it is busy season the place is busy with people, because the shared kitchen (the biggest reason I booked this hotel) seems to be well used. Hot water was nonexistent ....not sure if I was doing something wrong or not because there was nobody there to ask in the evening. I am not sure if I would stay there again because of the lack of hot water, but the people were nice, the kitchen was great, and the area was safe and nice. There is an easy little shop across the street that was open later than every other shop on a Sunday. I did take a taxi to and from the old town because it was raining-- was less than $6 USD each way, but it was a bit far to walk even without the rain. When I booked I thought I could walk to and from the old town, but there is also a trolley station very close by.
