This was our first stay at this hotel, the location was lovely and extremely close to the sandy beach. Our room was comfortable with a sea view and the food was excellent, including a family celebration lunch there. It also has access to a nearby sea ferry, and connecting tractor, which takes you to nearby Salcombe. The hotel has its own car park which was really helpful.

Great bank holiday stay

The staff were so personable and helpful from reception, restaurant staff to the lovely cleaning lady😀 Breakfast was really good, with fresh coffee, unlike other hotels where it’s self service from a machine! Great dinners with freshly caught fish specials. Our room was excellent, clean and spacious. Thank you South Sands Hotel-we will be back !

All the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was great, I didn't fully understand the heating and ventilation but that was down to me. the beach view from the dining room was excellent and the local walks in and around South Sands were great. All the meals we had were 1st class especially breakfast We Walked to Salcombe a couple of times and although its a little hilly the views made up for it. We only had a three day stay but the time passed in the blink of an eye. This was a really great stay for myself and my wife and we will return.

Incredible setting excellent service

Had an amazing stay. The setting is incredible and they make the most of it. Each and every member of staff was very warm, friendly, super helpful and professional- they made it a great experience. Very dog friendly too which actually had such a nice atmosphere to it- without feeling at all like a doggie daycare. Highly recommended!

Beautifully located hotel, stunning views. Hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming. Large comfortable bed with great powerful shower. Would have preferred a later checkout and water in the room to be replenished for multiple night stay.

A warm welcome after our long journey, which relaxes you straight away. We were shown our room, and it met our needs. We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary over this time, and found the staff very approachable, with the Breakfast having a good choice overlooking the beach. Ample secure carparking facility next too the hotel. The facilities in the hotel/ room, met our needs. We would recommend to others, and hope to return in the not too distant future.

A ground-floor room with a 'balcony' with a partial view of the beach, but quite acceptable. Clean and tidy, but mattress too firm. The hotel was overrun by dogs which were apparently given free reign in the restaurant. We were left wondering if the serving staff washed their hands after petting the animals before serving the next dish. If we had realised just how 'dog friendly' this hotel was, we would not have booked. . Staff very friendly and helpful.

We stayed an extra night :)

We loved it here - quite secluded and beware the Devon country lanes that access it, but it’s in a stunning location and we even stayed an extra night! The staff were brilliant and the food was faultless. Lots of doggos too :)

Fantastic Sunday lunch and overnight stay. Had a late lunch and a very relaxed afternoon looking at the beautiful view before moving to the fireside sofas for an evening of board games, cheese and wine. Fabulous staff, lovely room. Overall a wonderful short break.
