San Jose Island, Texas hotel rooms at the Independent

I like the open and the rooms was very roomy. I did not like the riom have an lingering pet odor.

We usually stay at the La Quinta but this hotel was offering a competitive price and we figured since it was brand new we would give it a try. This hotel was very nice and very clean. My only complaint is the bed was hard but I am also used to sleeping on a memory foam so I cant complain to much. House keeping was wonderful and they even picked up and organized my things which were thrown all over the room from us getting ready that morning. This hotel did not meet our expectations, they exceeded them!! It was perfect … from the friendly greeting and introduction to Rockport at the front desk to all the details in the room that made it perfect for an anniversary weekend getaway. Some of our favorite restaurants and gift shop were just a short stroll from the hotel. No need to hop back in the car after a long drive earlier in the day. Stayed for 3 nights and was very comfortable and clean. Pool was very nice too! Breakfast was very good with eggs and sausage, biscuits and gravy and all the normal continental breakfast items along with a very sweet and happy breakfast attendant. We have no complaints about our stay and will be returning.

Good breakfast, Professional and nice personal The only one complaint that someone next door slams theirs door in 6am in the morning, but they can't fixed stupid people.

The location of the hotel was across the street from the harbor. You were located right in the center of action. I enjoyed the fact you could walk across the street and fish right off the pier. Take your morning walk on the street right next to the water. And the grounds were so inviting with the trees and picnic tables just outside the door to your room. There was a place to eat across the street and next door was the gift shop. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I mainly chose this property due to the high rating from previous customers plus a very competitive rate. When we arrived at the location we were greeted by Vanessa at the front desk who made us feel very welcome right away and gave us first class service. Great location. It’s a short walk to the beach and even shorter walk to the Bier Haus which is a fun spot with good food and drink. Room was cold and clean, huge spread for breakfast and the waffles were yummy. Staff went above and beyond!

Close to the Ferry. Several restaurants close by. Beach is a short drive from hotel. Shopping an easy drive away. Walk to see the dolphins at sunset.
