Best hostel with also regular rooms we've stayed so far. We had a room with bathroom, king bed, balcony and seaview. Nice rooftop with the best bartenders so far. Antuoine made the best drinks. He is one of the best barkeepers ever seen.

Great hotel... very clean, laid back vibe, great pool on the rooftop, with a nice bar/ lounge area. The bartender (Antoine) was awesome! The restaurant is very good too! Free breakfast every morning at 8am, and a sweet cat (Boots). All the reception personnel are very friendly and helpful as well!!!

Best stay of all the places we've been in Belize! WOW! Nice and helpful staff, the view from the rooftop and the beachfront are perfect, nice cocktails, good restaurant and breakfast. Had a private room. Cannot recommand enough!

I was greeted with warmth and excitement by the staff. My single room was beyond comfortable and more than big enough. Balcony over town was lovely. I will definitely be back.

The modern room was spotlessly clean, & included everything we needed, a very comfortable Queen bed and a decent balcony (with "sea glimpses"). However the room was tiny - we couldn't pass each other walking around the bed - had to be done one at a time. The bed was high so suitcases could be stopped beneath It could also do with HOOKS!! No hooks anywhere!! Beyond the room, the common area was always buzzing and the youngsters & staff were all polite and friendly. The place had a great vibe. Breakfast (provided) was decent. The restaurant (in the older part of the building) was excellent (you could tell by the number of locals who are there on the evening). BIG BONUS: rooftop pool and bar!! Fabulous views! Shame that the bar closed at 7, but the pool didn't 😜 Location is great! It's right next door to Palapas Bar & Grill (for the wild ones) and just a few meters away from Cool Beans (5a-5p) for the best breakfasts and lunches. All the great downtown restaurants are within a 15-minute walk. That said, we rented a golf cart to explore the island, and we're glad we did. The only downer - and hardly Sandbar's fault - was the thick sargassum seaweed on all the east-facing beaches. Yuk! In short, we'll be back! And you should add it to your bucket list!

My private room with a balcony was comfortable and clean. Loved the continental breakfast which included papaya and watermelon, coffee, pastries and cereal. The bar was a great place to hang for a drink in the evenings. I connected with various travelers, booked a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan and shark alley and did a sunset catamaran cruise. I will likely return to Belize and stay at Sandbar.

The hostel itself was great! Modern, clean, comfortable and even the shared dorms had some resemblance of privacy. The staff were all absolutely amazing and great to talk to as well, they made me feel right at home. Some of the features that stood out were the restaurant onsite and the roof top pool, both of which were excellent. I would recommend this place to literally everyone and I will definitely be staying here again next time I vacation back to Belize!

The hostel has an adorable cat named Boots! Very chill, but adorable.

Clean interior hotel room (In suite bathroom included), with good working A/C. If you’re looking for a place to sleep at night nothing more, this place is for you. Staff is nice and helpful. Had a leaking shower head, which was promptly repaired when reported. In room safe was not mounted/ bolted to anything, so very reluctant to keep anything of value in the room when I was not there. Overall, you get wha you pay for, and my room was very inexpensive.

We spent 10 days at The Sandbar Hotel. Lots of positive aspects. Excellent staff. Clean rooms. Good simple Continental breakfasts each day. Wonderful rooftop swimming pool with the occasional pool party. One criticism would be the out-of-date online photos. The hotel had a huge expansion in the last year or two but some online photos show the older building and a ground level swimming pool and ground level bar and restaurant. Everything looks very different and generally better but old photos are still somewhat deceiving. Some photos show reclining deck chairs in front of the hotel on a dock that are no longer there. One of the reasons we chose the hotel was that it was on a beach with good access to the ocean with deck chairs and there was nothing like that. There are deck chairs on the rooftop by the pool and lots of seating near a rooftop bar. There is a washer and dryer available for guests but the washer is extremely noisy.

We stayed in two premium king rooms. They were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel offers a bunch of beneficial services that they don't really advertise. They have paddle boards available to use for no fee. They can facilitate tours or a golf cart rental. They offer filtered water in the shared kitchen. They have an included continental breakfast. All the staff was very friendly and eager to help. We had a shared balcony that looked out over Palapa Bar towards the ocean and the reef. The rooftop bar was a nice spot to relax, though the available seat fill up fast. The only negative we experienced isn't something the hotel can control. The building is at an intersection with several hotels right there and the Palapa Bar. It's busy and can get a little loud. During the day there are golf carts going by frequently. In the evening, live music drofts over from the bar. We did have one occurrence of people down on the street making a bunch of noise at 4am. They quieted down pretty quickly but not before waking us up. Not something I'm willing to knock a star off for, considering it's out of the hotels control.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in a private room with a bathroom. Room was clean and place was very nice. Pictures are accurate. AC worked great! Staff is nice and helpful. Restaurant that is connected to the hostel is very nice as well! Lots of food options. This is the perfect spot in san pedro. Its right in the middle of everything. About a 5 to 7 minute walk along the beach to the sprinter that takes you to belieze city. We didnt even need to rent a cart, we just walked everywhere since everything was close by! They also have paddle boards you can rent for free! We used them twice during our trip and it was so much fun. Breakfast is free, it changes daily. Its not a huge breakfast but still tasty. They also have a WhatsApp group you can join that sends out updates every morning on whats for breakfast. You can ask questions or connect with other travelers staying there in the chat. A very lovely place at an extremely low price. Absolutely would recommend!! Side note, almost every day we took a few minute walk to get breakfast at Cool Beans Cafe. Its super close to the hostel and OMG is their food absolutely delicious, coffee is amazing, and I still have dreams about that place. Definitely check it out if you stay here!

The room was okay—very small, but it had everything we needed. The staff were great and very attentive. The downstairs common area where everyone hangs out and the hallways didn’t smell very good, which was a downside. Other than that, it was an okay place to stay. I would stay again; I’d just bring some Febreze. I’m big on smells.

Room was clean and thoughtfully appointed. We don’t spend a lot of time in the room but the hotel has a great bar and restaurant. We had WiFi and a smart tv that we watched our Netflix on when we were ready for bed. Staff was friendly, other guests were respectful. Pool area is amazing as is the location and the view. Don’t let “hostel” scare you - if you just need a clean, comfortable room to sleep and shower this is perfect! Private room had a queen bed and was about the size of a standard bedroom at home with a decent sized en suite. Stepped out on a little balcony space with chairs and a table and had a fabulous view of the water as well. Lots of stairs though and no elevator so be prepared if that’s not your thing!

We stayed at Sandbar Hostel & Hotel in a private room and had a great experience. The room was excellent value and included strong AC, a safe, large TV, private bathroom, private balcony, and clothing rack. Like many hotels in this category, the shower wasn’t fully enclosed so a bit of water splashed onto the mat, but it was very minor. The bed was comfortable (about an 8/10 for me), and the balcony was perfect for drying beach towels quickly. The rooftop patio was a highlight. Watching the sunset with a cocktail was fantastic, and Juan, the bartender, was excellent. The freshwater pool and variety of seating areas made it easy to relax. Service was outstanding. Allen at the front desk was efficient, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay top notch. Housekeeping was also excellent, with every clean feeling like a full reset. The attached Sandbar restaurant was reliable and open until 11:00 pm, which is rare in San Pedro and a huge perk after diving. Chuck and Robbie’s dive shop is about 100 feet away, and there’s a grocery store (Kmart) right around the corner. We’d absolutely stay here again.

Amazing place to stay. They provide free paddleboarding, washing machine + dryer. Have a rooftop lounge and bar, and a restaurant right next to it. And the price quality is incredible. Definitely a 10/10. The only thing they could do to improve is organizing afternoon/night activities to go to bars and socialize, but the WhatsApp group is also useful for it.
