"Hotel Cocomar is not the ritz however your room is huge, clean and has a private beach directly in front which for the price is amazing! Staff is super friendly and helpful, but you need to ask for what you want. Property is dated and definitely needs upkeep, but for Costa Rica it is a little Gem. They have some resident stray dogs and cats who are super friendly but if you don’t like animals, maybe it’s not the place for you. Food and drinks were delicious! Highly recommend the nachos ;) The beach is beautiful but waves are crazy and could kill you! Wonderful to sit and watch the waves or walk the beach and find treasures. Beds were comfortable and there were some English movies. If you want a hot shower- do it first thing in the morning! The monkeys tend to visit the Java apple tree on the property in the late afternoon and give you a show. Full kitchen in the room if you want to make your own food. Overall we had a great relaxing stay, drove to Manuel Antonio and Jaco beach was close enough for day trips - also rainmaker park was lovely and close too. We recommend this hotel for those who enjoy a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle - it’s tranquil and you can be at peace on the beach without anyone else around. If you can learn some basics in Spanish it will help you communicate with staff but they do speak English and will teach you some Spanish ;) Hotel Cocomar met our expectations and we hope others give it a chance as it deserves to be experienced. "The staff was great ! Room was nice . The from the king room was several homes and the ocean over the top of the building . If the air conditioner was running the barking dogs and motorcycles would have kept us awake ? "
"As many others have said, the beds are uncomfortable. The pool looks clean, but left our swimsuits smelling badly. The beach has a lot of waves and a riptide, so not the best for swimming. However, there are plenty of activities and the evening staff was helpful with those. Plenty of good restauraunts and walking to Manuel Antonio Park. Parking in front of reception desk made us feel more confident. "
"Amazing views of the bay from our room. Private access to a beautiful beach. Incredibly warm, helpful staff. A breakfast to look forward to every day. A great restaurant. We loved every minute of our stay. "
"This is a great property with friendly staff, clean rooms and the swim-up bar made amazing drinks. Its near few of the best beaches where the sunsets are spectacular."
"10/10 would recommend this resort. My husband and I stayed here 20 years after he first stayed at this same resort with his family as a teenager. They had great things to say then, and we have amazing things to say now! The resort was clean and had the most gorgeous views. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with anything we needed at any time. Shout out to Marco at Mogotes pool bar for always making sure our cups were full.
We had an amazing time here and would definietly stay here again! "
"This was an amazing resort. The pool is warm and shaded and comfortable and a great respite from the heat. The best part of the day is evening (around 4:30 to 5:30pm) when the animals come out to play at the pool. Highly recommend lounging at the pool before sunset to see the birds, monkeys and occasional deer!
Rooms are great and the access to YOLO, the bar/restaurant next door and the pool bar/resto, is great for breakfast (breakfast was included in our booking), pool side drinks and snacks (there was a 2 for 1 cocktails happy hour from 3-6), and dinner in the main resto. Our kids (12 and 15) also enjoyed playing pool and the numerous games available at the resto area. Rooms were great with great AC which was essential in Manuel Antonio. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would consider staying here again if we were to return to MA. "
"Highly recommend! Pools were clean and well kept as well as stunning views! Monkeys fun and friendly and the staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional."
"The hotel was very comfortable and in a great location. The staff were awesome! Breakfast was very good. We ate dinner once and it was good as well. On days where we needed to leave early for an excursion they packed us breakfast to go.
We rented the apartment which was perfect size for a family of five. It faces the road which is a little loud at night but wasn’t a big concern.
I would recommend this hotel.
