Shelby Farms Park, Memphis hotel rooms at the Independent

"The lobby should have fresh water available all day. Many people walk the city and it would be nice to have fresh water in the lobby. Carpet in room needs to be cleaned better. There was no cold water in the shower. The hot water was so hot I couldn’t use it comfortably."

"We stay in this hotel frequently for medical purposes. Due to medical necessity I require a bathtub. I request a bathtub, yet have to speak to staff every single visit to get the correct room. This is absolutely ridiculous and should not need to be addressed every time."

"For the money, this was a great hotel. It offered everything we want in the room when we travel and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The breakfast had multiple choices of hot food. The location was very convenient, so we could walk to all the places we wanted to visit. We especially appreciated the affordable, secured on site self-parking garage. We'd stay here again."

"Need fruit and peanut butter at breakfast. Our tub constantly dripped. My side of king bed sunk to the floor. Exercise room was out of order. But it was close-ish to Graceland."

"The room was quite nice: In the bathroom the toilet was jammed in between the sink and the wall so that it was difficult to sit down, and when I did my leg touched the metal of the stand that held the sink. We had an expensive dinner in the restaurant - not the French restaurant but the other one. The creamed spinach was limp spinach in a milky soupy something. We asked that the steak be charred on the outside, medium rare on the outside. It was neither and not very good. My dinner was tasteless. Really, it was a terrible meal and did I mention that it was expensive? Our flight was late so we ended up eating at 8:30 pm, but we were told that the restaurant served until 10pm so we gave it a chance. What a mistake. Everyone acted as if they were already headed for home. The staff stood around talking with each other instead of asking if we would like more water - which we did. The dishes at the table of four next to ours remained on the table for a long time, then the dirty dishes were moved to a large tray on a stand right next to our table - and left there! Really, it was astonishingly bad service and the attention to detail completely lacking. The bar in the big lobby was full. Clearly the restaurant is an afterthought to the Peabody management. I just wish we had known beforehand. We would have eaten at the hotel across the street."
