"$60 Parking!! I knew in advance that I was going to pay a larger amount to stay in such a beautiful, historic hotel with an unbeatable location. But the $60.00 valet parking fee came as a very unpleasant surprise.
I was also not pleased with the unfriendly greeting from the gentleman at front desk. When you stay at a sophisticated hotel, you expect a warm, welcoming attitude from the front desk personnel. We did not receive even a smile from the impersonal transaction of getting our keys.
That being said, it felt like quite a privilege to stay in a property with so much history. When you're aware that you're setting foot in the same place as President Roosevelt, Babe Ruth and many others you are willing to overlook small imperfections.
If you are someone who values history (and Texas history in particular) you wll appreciate the opportunity of staying at a Hotel which has hosted so many important guests and events since 1859."
