Southside, San Antonio hotel rooms at the Independent

"The first room had such a strong smell of mold and mildew. The second room had mold surrounding the bathtub. Stained toilet. Old dingy sheets. Housekeeping gets a C- . Parking $65/day plus over $200 in hotel resort fees. Website asserted remodeled rooms, obviously we didn't they failed to say some remodeled rooms. Very disappointed. Far from a four-star hotel. "

"The hotel was nice and clean a little dated. One thing I noticed that I would’ve liked would have been blackout curtains. The room had shutters in the window, which did allow light in even in the early morning. It would’ve been nice to have had some blackout curtains to keep the light out when we wanted to sleep in everything was clean we had everything we needed very convenient location for downtown San Antonio literally across the street from the Alamo Tavern restaurant was very convenient although a bit pricey elevators are small, but worked. Overall, all the day was nice and we enjoyed our stay would recommend."

"Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We did unfortunately have a few minor issues during our stay, which we had to get with reception about. Each item was dealt with immediately by staff. Even better was that staff were so warm, and easy to talk to. Rooms are clean and comfortable enough. We did spend time relaxing in the room each afternoon. Bathroom could maybe use a fresh coat of paint, but that’s so minor compared to the pluses. Wonderful lobby area. There’s so much space to sit and hang out in the hotel during the heat of the day. I would definitely stay again. "

"I've stayed at all of the hotels in the vicinity of the convention center so I thought I'd give the La Quinta a try. Not the newest and shiniest, but for the location and service I would stay here again. Good value for your dollar. There was a leak in our bathroom and they upgraded our room to a suite. "
