The Hand Hotel

"The view from the second story deck is the main thing that got us, it is amazing! Unfortunately, I overlooked the fact that all rooms are on the second floor, and that there is no elevator (this is noted in the details on the website) - and that my wife and I (in our 80s) are having difficulties with stairs these days. Seems like only a few years ago that was not an issue, but after one day here, we were feeling distressed, and asked to be released from the remainder of our 5 night reservation. The owner, who was attending the desk, was very sympathetic, agreed to relieve us of any further commitment, and notified Hotels.com of our situation. We received a full refund of the charge for our unused nights. The hotel is as advertised, a pleasant and quaint place to vacation, and if the stairs are not a problem (as they would not have been to us not long ago) you will be very pleased with the Hand Hotel, and the great staff who will do everything possible to help you enjoy your stay."

"Our stay for two nights was nice. The view from the front of the hotel is amazing…beautiful mountain scenery. Our room(king with sofa pullout) with mtn view(not street side) was very nice….super clean large room, comfy bed, quiet and everything you might need. The staff(John) at reception was great…helpful in every way! Thank you!! The breakfast was your typical ok buffet style. Was disappointed in the attitude of staff there. After 2 tries to communicate with a “good morning how are you”, finally got a response from staff member saying they’d be better in 15min when they could just leave this place and go home.Obviously doesn’t enjoy the job but not a good look on your guest to witness this attitude. On top of needing a refresher on hospitality…gloves being worn, not bare hands, would be a suggestion when picking up all the left over baked goods that are being put in plastic containers. Just a couple of observations that might be beneficial. Other guest were also aware of this attitude. Sometimes in this industry, you just have to put on a happy face. The location in Buena Vista to Main Street, lakes, trails is perfect. The positives definitely out weighed the negatives and would for sure stay here again."

"Absolutely wonderful resort. We stayed in the Boreas Pass Suite. The room was far more spacious and modern than expected with a huge, private deck that backed to the river (the entire resort is so well kept and manicured). The Snowmelt/Spa area was such a bonus and we had the Steam Sauna, Dry Sauna and Cold plunge all to ourselves, even on the busiest leaf-peeping weekend of the season (Friday, 9/25). They even had suits we could borrow as the Spa, so unexpected. The virtual front office staff was so attentive, and responded in real time to each one of our inquiries. Our ONLY suggestion would be to place extra towel hooks in the bath for easier access (the only ones there now are inside the oversized shower but they did not get wet) and complimentary robes would be nice to have inside the rooms to wear back and forth from the spa, it gets a little chilly at night. This resort is a true gem and would recommend 100%. In fact, we already have to a few of our friends! Thank you Two Bridges, well done!"
