St. George Island State Park, Florida hotel rooms at the Independent

"The Inn had a great first impression. Staff and visuals were very good. Pool area was very nice. We didn’t eat there but it smelled good. The beds were very comfortable. Our issues were in the bathroom. No hooks or shelves for a place to put our toiletries. No place to hang towels other than tossing over the high glass shower door. We took our first shower on a Saturday morning. For each of us the water pressure was temperamental. A weak stream was the best. It then dropped to water flowing down the wall. I was barely able to get my face and hair rinsed of soap and shampoo. Then it returned to a weak stream again. Thinking an evening shower would be better, it then only had luke warm water. Very early the day we left, the water was chilly. Those two days we didn’t shower, including the day we spent at the beach. Sorry that this is lengthy. I hope that the third floor customers didnt all experience what we did. I hope it can be fixed. Knowing it is an old building, we still hope improvements can be made with this issue. We did sleep great though. "

"We wanted a clean, inexpensive beachfront hotel for a quick trip and this dod not disappoint. Check-in was quick and simple. The corner room was beachside and poolside. You cannot see the ocean from lower level because of the dunes. Next time, we may opt to stay upstairs. The room was spacious and clean. Simple furnishings, but everything you need was supplied in the bathroom and kitchenette. Extra coffee packets were provided by the lobby staff. The pool was clean and refreshing. There was some litter (unopened beers) and clothing left on the decks for days. Maybe the staff thought someone would come back to claim it. We rented a golfcart to get around. Very convenient withing walking to beach, restaurants, lighthouse. Overall, it was a nice stay and I would recommend to others."

"This was such a delightful surprise! We has some trouble finding the place at first - it was a bit overgrown and hidden. However, once we were tucked inside, that added to the charm and we enjoyed ourselves so much. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a true Old Florida get away."

"I hope you don't like to sleep in, take naps in the afternoon or go to sleep early because this place is loud. I could literally hear a person snoring next door! Quiet time starts at 10pm and the staff could do a better job of verbally explaining that instead of expecting everyone to read the fine print on their bill. It's a very communal atmosphere because instead of coffee makers in the rooms, there is a Keurig with pods, sugar and creamer in the hallway of the main and second level. There is a balcony with seating for each room all the way around. Smoking is allowed out there and it made it hard to enjoy the ocean breeze in the mornings. My room was equipped with a nice size mini fridge and microwave, both clean. There was only one outlet to plug things in and it was falling out of the wall. There is no way to control your individual room temperature but there was a nice and powerful ceiling fan with a remote! Except for dirty floor and the hair in the shower, the room was reasonably clean. Housekeeping isn't a daily thing, if that's a concern for you. The main areas were well maintained and smelled clean. Overall the location to the beach is good but I wouldn't stay here again."

"Great experience - old house so as expected on bathrooms etc. the back to back units share an AC which was in our unit so I was fine with it. If I had been in the other unit I wouldn’t have been so thrilled about that haha. Super cute town and this was right in the middle of it all"

"Arrived after midnight and still were able to reach a helpful staff member to help us settle in. Overall great experience and would recommend."
