Honestly, it was view. My friends and family were content with a resort next to the beach but instead we walked out to thw beach. Could not have asked for a better view. So beautiful!!!!!

Million dollar view of the bay. Should be a $10.00 a night room. These are condos that are rented by the owners. This owner should be ashamed of the condition of this unit. Worn out, rusty, corroded, moldy, broken down rooms. Lumpy beds, smelly kitchen. I paid for 8 nights, left after three. Couldn't stand it. Don't know the condition of others units but the property in general looks tired and in need of sprucing up.

Not bad

It’s nothing fancy but it works. You probably won’t get shot here. Plus it’s close to all the amenities of Red Hook.

All furniture was stained with salt from flooding ocean water. Furniture was old floors were dirty and the bed was uncomfortable and damp for some reason. The bed sheets and bathroom were also dirty on check in. The grounds had a long unkempt lawn that badly needed landscaping

One of the best in the USVI!

Sapphire Beach is one of the best beaches in the USVI and the Sapphire Resort adds to that. Loved their beach bar with live music on a Sarurday afternoon and the view from the beach and your room of many other islands is awesome. Friendly staff, lots of fun people and great rooms. We will be back!

Not A Beach Resort

We chose the "Crystal Cove Beach Resort" based on the many positive reviews written on Hotel.com Actually this is Not a beach resort but an apartment/ condominium complex manage by Sapphire Resort. Some owners use the apartment(s) as investments and rent them out. We were given Unit B-3B. This apartment is dated and it is not being properly maintained. 3B is a 1 bedroom furnished apartment. The mattress on the bed was soft and old, the bedside lamps were broken, the furniture in the apartment were old, the televisions were of the analog type with cable, the WiFi in the apartment worked sporadic at times. There were paint cans and maintenance stuffs sitting in the verandah. However, there were adequate kitchen utensils, beddings and towels in the apartment. House keeping is done twice per week. Non-portable water is used for flushing the toilets at this complex. The Sapphire Beach was a 3 minutes walk away from the apartment. The beach is good but not the best on the island. Beside the beach, there is nothing of interest at this "Resort". There are good restaurants, some shopping and the ferry terminal to St. John's 1 1/2 miles away. The 2 tennis courts on the compound were recently resurfaced and the nets are in good shape. I will guess that other apartments on the compound were better maintained, it all depends on the owner and his/her commitment to upkeep.

Don't stay here

Lovely pictures online, not true representations. Air conditioner broken, no maintenance response when requested. Was 80 degrees all night so couldn't sleep. Supposed to be king bed, was actually two twin beds pushed together with a fitted sheet over them. Watersport/gear rental area under construction, VERY narrow beach area, sloping and steep. After complaining we were moved to pavilions and pools which was very nice.

Great location. Room was OK but dated.

Great experience other than terrible directions from Orbitz. Took 2 hours to find. No phone number listed. No address other that street. Did not explain where the office was. Grrrrrrr.

Okay for a few days

Arrival was a bit of confusing. We could not find the correct office to check in because there are two condo units, Crystal Cove and Sapphire Beach. Once we found that we checked in at Sapphire Beach check in went smoothly. We were "upgraded" from Crystal Cove (no beach views) to studio condos at Sapphire Beach. Let me say right up front the beach is gorgeous. Our units were dated (kitchen doors hanging slightly, older bathrooms, stained tiles) but it was very clean and the staff did a good job of replacing towels and emptying rubbish. All in all it was fine for a 4 day stay but I wouldn't want to be there for a six week holiday.

Nice - close to beach

Lacking basic coffee/tea/creamer in rooms. Would be nice especially as there is no place you can purchase it close by. The beach is beautiful and it feels quite safe. A vending machine, upgrade of tv would be nice for the price. You need transport or be prepared to walk.

Good location. Can't say the same about the rooms.

Some of the units are literally on the beach. We had two condos. Beach front villas. In one the AC didn't work upstairs. In the other the AC made a horrible whining noise and it smelled bad. The upstairs bathroom in one until didn't have hot water, instead it had rusty cold water. The furnishings were old and dated. The stove burners were leaning, so it was difficult to cook. There were mice or rats that went for anything that was left outside of the fridge. The best part were the terraces, nice and large with beautiful views. The resort did offer beach chairs and snorkeling equipment. Orbitz advertises free hit breakfast. This is not offered. There is a beach shack that opens at 11 and offers lunch. They close at sunset, so no dinner. To get food one would need a car or a taxi. Taxis charge around $5 per person to take you to the closest grocery store or restaurant.

It is affordable for a reason

The room had a musty smell and there were cob webs on the ceiling in the corner of the living room by the kitchen. The front access door to the patio was stuck and had to use force to get it open. Bath towels were brought to room every day. Snorkel equipment was supplied at your asking at no charge and beach ( Sapphire ) was amazing with great views ! Pool was great and very sizable !

Needs serious updating

Outdated and slightly mouldy apartment rooms with very sketchy wi-fi. Stunning beach, but the hotel has definitely seen better days. Wasn't the most comfortable of stays and dreadfully overpriced for what was offered.

location A, room condition C, staff A

I stayed in unit B3. The location is incredible, steps from the gorgeous Sapphire Beach. Unit B3, on the other hand, could use some serious updating. It seems like it was furnished in 1970. The bed and the sofa were uncomfortable. The A/C worked great. Everything was very clean except for the toilets. I think the problem is with the tanks. The tanks were dirty and took about 20 minutes to refill after flushing. The staff (management office, maintenance crew, beach attendant) were friendly and very helpful.

BEAUTIFUL BEACH But....

Did not want big-city stay so this area is great...not where you want to come to shop. Beautiful views and the beach is one of the best. Our condo unit was just ok...clean bedding and towels which are always needed. The unit was very dated compared to others we saw but we stayed put due to the PERFECT beach access location. Next time will investigate more before booking...and there will be a next time! The outside door didn't latch properly so we kept the inside door locked which restricted cross ventilation of the ocean air from beach-side patio doors. Not all burners on the stove worked properly. Unit owner should really attempt to give it a good cleaning and updating-would happily pay more for updated unit another time. We really enjoyed the beach with free snorkel equipment. The food hut staff weren't so friendly and bypassed us for the beach-goers from the cruise ships on more than one occasion. Loved the bar at the top of the hill and the closeness to fun in small town of Red Hook. One-dollar open-air busses to town and crazy cabbies--VERY close to ferry dock to get to St. John and Trunk Bay! Happy to be close! We're not big shoppers so enjoyed this end of the island compared to the busy-ness of the St.Thomas city area. Did LOVE the night-time, glass-bottom kayaking at the St.Thomas Marriott-YES to recommending! Were amused by the common power outages just because we don't keep a lot of food in our fridge and could keep condo open and hang at beach-we'll be back

Worn down hotel close to very beautiful beach

Crystal Cove is very worn-down. It has all possibilities to be a fantastic place. Renovation is very much needed. The beach is beautiful and the hotel staff is helpful.

the location is good, nice beach, but the room is in dire need of a good cleaning, the floor and baseboards are nasty and the couch cushions are disgusting and stained. The bed was okay.

Location, Location

The location of the condo was perfect it had a security gate that worked most of the time and the condo itself was outdated a king size bed is actually two double beds joined together the televisions were very old and only one worked. During our 12 day stay we were woken up 9 days from construction in the basement where it was so loud we had to leave the premises. Reported problem to Management and there response was that it was an emergency but that was untrue.

Old and Rundown

This place was a huge disappointment. First of all, the name of the place is Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina, NOT Crystal Cove at Sapphire Bay. As a result, the taxi driver had a terrible time getting us to the right place. Once we arrived, there was no lobby and no indication as to where to check in. It is a condo complex and one of the empty units (A201) is currently being used as an office.. We had to call several times to get directions to the office. The entire complex is old and in disrepair. The unit itself was spacious with a large living/kitchenette downstairs and a large bedroom upstairs. Both levels had a large patio with a spectacular view. Furniture was cheap and old. The pool seemed to be clean and in good condition but the snack bar next to it was boarded up and very shabby looking. The pool furniture was old and stacked sloppily. The place was not at all welcoming. There is no restaurant on the property, however, the Sapphire Beach Bar and Grill was nearby

NEVER AGAIN/THEY LIE AND ARE LAZY

Booked thinking Travelocity could not recommend such a terrible place, was I wrong. We were taken to a room that looked liked something in a third world country. The so called porter sat on his butt while we took our luggage up the steps. the room was old and run down, no safe to store passports, the bed looked like they found it on the side of the road and their was human waste still in one of the bathroom, somebody forgot to flush, oh or the maid forgot to clean the bathroom, yuk....no phone to call office so we had to walk through this not so nice lot to the other resort, where they check you in.. HUH? Finally after a few trips back and forth we had enough and they moved us to a room that had no key, they had a real problem with keeping the keys on their pegs, they just throw them around the office, which is a room in A building. We get room 2 and after three trips back and forth with different keys, we get room 3, the safe was broken and the sliding glass doors locked but you could just move them on the track and walk right out, girl at office said nobody would bother out stuff, not to worry...WHAT..in their hotel book it states make sure you LOCK you doors!!! She was a piece of work. Said she would get somebody to fix problems in the morning....mind you we started this process at 4 and it was now 9 and we traveled all day. We slept in the room awaiting the repair person... finally around 12:30 yet another trip to the office to .MORE TO SAY RUNNING OUT OF ROOM

nice co beachndo on a gorgeous

Condo was very spacious and comfortable. Gorgeous Sapphire Beach was right outside the door. Snorkeling was excellent. Two pools available- one right near condo which was perfect for doing laps and one beautiful pool next to ocean that was in several sections so not perfect for lap swimming. Condo was in good but not perfect shape - not spiffy. I spent some time cleaning the exhaust fan in the kitchen. Appliances were old but functional. Roaches roamed freely at night in the kitchen. This is the tropics and that may be a given. Bathrooms OK . Very nice bedroom with nice linens. Restaurants available in Red Hook about 1 mile away. Getting around somewhat inconvenient - there is a $1 bus that goes to Red Hook ( $2 to Charlotte Amalie). Food shopping next to KMart- take the $1 bus there and you can get it back also.
