I've never had a check-in be so easy - they checked the entire group in (all of the people that came in on the boat) simultaneously within minutes. The property is gorgeous, the staff are super friendly, the tour guides really know their stuff, and the food is incredible. Would highly recommend!

En las habitaciones las ventanas no tienen más que un cedazo, por lo consiguiente todos los sonidos de afuera se escuchan asi como la visibilidad hacia adentro de la habitación en la noche

Das Zimmer war perfect, tolle Lage, traumhafte Aussicht, wie in einem Märchen. Das Personal war immer gefuldig, hilfsbereit, People von Costa Rica sind von Grund aus sehr freundlich, lieb. Frühstück war excellent, frisch, gut geschmeckt alles. Nationalpark war 15-20 Minuten entfernt mit Fuss, an der Beach oder Walkway entlang. Keine Gefahr tagsüber oder in the Night on Walkway. Nachts Beach ist verboten, ganz klar. Sonst gibt es Wasserboat. Einfach alles excellent. Mawamba Lodge würde ich jedem empfehlen. Falls ich irgendeann nach Tortuguero fliege, ich werde sicherlich da schlafen wollen

We came from Canada and spent 3 nights here in one of their bungalows. So nice to have the AC! Breakfast buffet (with made to order eggs) was good, all the staff were amazing and very helpful. So many lizards on the property and the turtles were nesting and hatching right out front of the lodge! Town was only a short walk away. The boat ride in and out was an adventure in itself! Stay here, you won’t regret it

Tremendous accommodation for 3 nights in Tortuguero. The lodge sits squarely between the ocean and the canal, a two minute walk between them. There was such an open, relaxed, spacious feel to the beautiful grounds and sitting areas and even a hammock-filled gazebo by the river for napping. Lovely and helpful staff, passionate and extraordinary guide Daniel, amazing iguanas and basilisks everywhere, fantastic restaurant ambience and breakfast, large, clean and airy rooms with a great huge open shower and powerful adjustable ceiling fan with good beds and pillows made sleeping a breeze without AC. Easy 10 minute walk to town. Witnessing hard working mama turtles during green turtle nesting season and getting to see hatchlings racing to the ocean was truly magical.

If you’re here for the turtles, this is THE place. We were able to see little ones right on the beach! However, did not care for the food or room very much. Pamphlets would have been useful for the lodge, so we could better explore the grounds and surrounding area. There is no concierge and it takes them a bit long to respond to your questions via WhatsApp.

Loved this property, the staff, and location. The staff was very helpful in booking excursions and special events. We enjoyed cooling off in the swimming pool and the beautiful property.

I thought long and hard and tried to keep everything into consideration to come up with the star rating. Although some parts of the customer service were below average and the overall noise level and foot traffic left something to be desired, I gave 4 because of the property set up and animals nearby and on the grounds.

Nous sommes tombés en amour avec cet hôtel. Nous avions un bungalow avec air climatisé. Très utile car c'est chaud et humide en août. Nous avons vu des perroquets, des toucans et des singes hurleurs sur notre site. Nous avons aussi fait la sortie pour voir la ponte des tortues vertes. C'était vraiment super génial. Nous reviendrons certainement. La restauration est délicieuse. Tout était parfait.

Clean room with good WiFi, and a lovely hammock outside room where you would lay and watch the toucans and macaws. Pool at the hotel was excellent and breakfast was great too. Great property with access to both the beach and the river. Short ten minutes, flat easy walk to town, where you could see every form of wildlife, sloths, snakes and frogs, to name but a few. Loads of options for food and activities at hotel, be it floating river dinner or kayaking but with no pressure to take up on these and staff still helpful with recommendations or happy to assist should you have sorted your own.

Great lodge with widlife all around. Great breakfast. An easy walk to town and the national park to really get a feel for the area and to have different options for dinner etc.
