"We stayed at Highlander Mountain House for our 5-year wedding anniversary and overall the property itself is beautiful. The rooms were clean, the design and atmosphere are amazing, and the location is one of our favorites in Highlands. We also loved The Ruffed Grouse and the overall experience of the hotel. The only downside was the noise situation during our stay. The hotel was fully booked with a wedding party, and unfortunately the guests in the room next to us were extremely loud both Thursday and Friday night, continuing well past 1am. We even politely asked them ourselves to keep it down, but it continued. I completely understand people are celebrating and having a special weekend, but when rooms are this close together, there should be a little more consideration for other guests staying at the property, especially those also there for quiet getaways or anniversaries. I also think the hotel staff should take more precautions when hosting full wedding weekends to help separate non-wedding guests or better manage noise expectations late at night. It honestly put a damper on what was otherwise a really special anniversary trip for us, which is disappointing because everything else about the property was wonderful."

"Overall, our stay was okay, but there were definitely some inconveniences that would make me think twice about staying again. The room itself was clean, which I always appreciate, and that was probably the best part of the experience. However, the check-in office was about a mile away from the actual property, and the amenities were also located back up the road across from the check-in office, making them inconvenient to access from the room. The map provided to help navigate the property wasn’t very helpful either, which added to the frustration. One of the biggest downsides was the required $200 deposit. We were only informed after payment was processed that it could take 30–45 days to be returned to my card, which is not very convenient. Between the deposit situation and the layout of everything being spread out, I personally don’t think I would choose to stay here again."

"I've stayed here many times. It is a decent value with friendly staff and nice rooms. But if you have a handicap accessible room, the showers do not drain because they are flat with a drain on one side, and as a result the floors are moldy. Also, a coffee shop just opened up next door. It has made entering and exiting the hotel both inconvenient and dangerous. Their customers line up all the way onto the highway. Plus they play music on external speakers that you can hear if you are in a room facing it. The hotel definitely needs another entrance."
