Valtournenche is a charming ski resort town that sits nearly a mile (over 1,500 meters) above sea level in the Alps. Its many miles of white slopes and valleys offer enjoyment for both amateur and professional skiers. Look for the historical attractions in the town center, including a church that dates back to the 1400s. Outside of town, find scenic countryside trails, off-piste hikes and a deep ravine. The many different pistes are served by plenty of ski lifts.
Notice that many of the landmarks have French names due to its proximity to France and the Francophone region of Switzerland. The area once belonged to the Savoys, one of the oldest royal families in the world.
