The best things about the hotel are its location and the strong air conditioning. However, it needs maintenance to improve the water (my shower fluctuated between hot and cold), electricity (a light randomly shut off), and the general appearance (water damage, rust, and stains in the bathroom).

Friendly and helpful staff make up for uninspiring rooms with fairly basic beds. Breakfast is better in any of the nearby cafes. Nice parking but costs 10Eur / night

I was very disappointed with this property. The woman at the front desk who greeted us upon arrival was rude and exceptionally unhelpful. The room was a good size. We had the family room which had 4 twin beds divided between two rooms. The beds were terrible. No padding, just a cover over a spring. There was a bottom sheet and a top sheet and nothing else. There was one blanket provided in the closet but there were four beds. Only Shampoo provided, no conditioner, even when we asked the front desk, there was one tiny, exceptionally thing bath towel and hand towel each. Also, there was a spider in one of the beds. Overall it was not a good experience. We were not expecting anything fancy but we were definitely expecting more than what was provided.

Poor sound insulation both inside and outside. You can hear your neighbours snoring all night long and people yelling in the street until past 2am. The staff smoke right outside the property, which drifted into the staircase. Good things included the reduced parking rate and the roll down blinds to help with the street lights outside.

Situated in front of a plaza, it is a fabulous location for walking everywhere. Lots of restaurants and incredible bakeries all around. Beautiful shops. two blocks from bus station. The hotel itself is not new but it is well kept and it is very nice. The rooms are spacious, simple but they have all I needed for relaxing and resting: a small refrigerator, a hairdryer, a good tv. The folks working at reception are very accommodating, professional and friendly. There is a coffee shop in the nice lobby. The room attending service was excellent. It got a bit noisy with a room full of young children next door but it was only for one night. I truly enjoyed my stay at “El Gran Hotel” and I love the city of Vilafranca del Penedes. I will be back.

Travel 4 months of the year and on my way from Lisbon , decided to stop at this motel , want to be hotel. Terrible is an understatement of my experience and the surroundings. Upon checking in at 1 in the morning, I was not informed that the AC would be out for two weeks. Opening the windows is a bad idea since there are drug addicts, homeless, and trash trucks keeping you awake till 2 in the morning. The parking lot is inconveniently in another structure for additional fees, if you have luggage. The rooms are very basic like a cheap motel, the mattresses are uncomfortable and the internet didn't work in the room. Regretfully chose the place because of the reviews on Expedia and almost always leave good reviews and if their is a problem, I try and resolve it and not waste time to leave a bad review but I'm writing this for others not to have the same experience.

Jugendherberge mit Hotel Charakter

Extrem einfaches in die Jahre gekommen ist Hotel, welches bestenfalls in Standard einer Jugendherberge erfüllt. Frühstück ebenfalls extrem einfach und nicht im sonstigen spanischen Standard entsprechend. Positiv ist die Lage mitten im Zentrum.
