When we got there pool had been shut for 4 months hotels .com still advertising it had one no staff all ill no food no one bothered yo yell is ruined our silver wedding

A very relaxing holiday destination

We were made very welcome by Jess & Nick on arrival and through out our stay. The hotel is excellent with spacious clean rooms and en-suits. The hotel is set in 51 acres of parkland over looking a beautiful lake. It had been a golf course but now almost a nature reserve. Mown grass paths lead through natural grassland and wooded hills and valleys around the lake. A very relaxing holiday spot with absolutely no other sounds other than the river and fountain (when in use). Tea or drinks on the patio watching the ducks, swans with signets, and fish jumping was very relaxing. The location near to Ludlow, Shrewsbury and numerous National Trust properties a definite bonus. Hotel facilities are excellent, with heated indoor swimming pool, and superb dinning room overlooking the lake. The meals provide were all excellent. We booked four night but stayed six, (and wished we could have stayed longer). We hope to return.

Lovely setting but some disappointments

The location of the hotel is outstanding and the setting in a country park is definitely the best feature of this hotel. We were booked for 1 night (Tuesday) and used the restaurant as there were no other eating facilities within a few miles. Tuesday night has a much reduced menu which we didn't find out till we got into the restaurant.The menu in the room made no mention of reduced menus on Mon/Tues.On ordering we were told there was no fish available from the limited menu and had been replaced by chicken. The cottage pie was very nice but the sausage was inedible as the skin was almost raw. The lady serving offered to replace the meal or rectify the situation which she did promptly. Breakfast next day was very good. The room was comfortable but we were booked into room 15 and when guests arrived in room 14 at about 21:00 we could every word of their face to face conversation, their phone conversations and their TV. The walls are literally like cardboard so no privacy. The TV reception was also intermittent and that was on an evening with reasonable weather. So the hotel and grounds are lovely, some of the decor needs freshening up (the stair carpet to the first floor was stained and looked like it needed a good clean), the staff were very hospitable and welcoming but beware of the reduced menu on Monday's & Tuesday's, be specific on how you want your food cooked to avoid disappointment and be aware of the lack of privacy between rooms 14 & 15.

Location over quality of room

The location is really nice, a nice building...externally. The bedrooms are very tired and paper thin walled, which means its not the premium hotel experience at all from that point. The reception, terrace and bar are very nicely done...but the rooms are not.

Ok but could be so much better with eye for detail

This hotel has promise but basics clearly lacking. No eye for detail- upstairs exterior windows need cleaning. Wasp nest in eves. Dust and dead flies in dining room window sill 2 days in row. Basic cleanliness only. On positive note staff friendly. Beds comfortable. Suggest an update to your client packs and purchasing tea pots that pour

Excellent stay, beautiful venue and top service

The location was amazing next to the beautiful lake. The service couldn’t have been better, so friendly and accommodating. The food was also excellent both breakfast and we had one dinner in the restaurant. The pool was also really well maintained. One small point it would have been good to have vertical blinds to close and open in the room as it had a lakeside view but there were chairs and tables outside the window for other guests.
