"A little ways from city center"

"We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 8th floor and was more a suite than a room. It comprised a king size bed, large couch, table for two and a bathroom. This room also had the added benefit of a private terrace/garden with river views. Quality of fitout was of a high standard and also included were robes and slippers. Additional facilities included in the room rate were three pools (and outdoor horizon pool, an indoor swimming pool and an indoor spa),...

"We crashed at the Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes mid-afternoon after a morning exploring Guimaraes. We were almost at the end of our two-plus week trek. We were ready for down time. We spent a lovely afternoon walking the grounds, swimming in the beautiful pool [allowed though the pool wasn't yet officially open], having drinks on the terrace, and having dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was a delight."

"We enjoyed our stay here, and they arranged a wonderful day of wine tasting and a cooking class for us. The things we did not like, though, were that the gym in the basement was very warm, and also the outdoor pool was not open, even though it was quite hot out. The breakfast was nice. There is not much to do in the immediate area, so you would want to have a car, or a driver arranged for your time there. We did not use any of the spa services. They have bikes to use, but we did not inquire...
