What a beautifully unique place to stay! We were in the Gamekeeper's bothy and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was clean and spacious and the wood stove kept us plenty warm! We never saw any red squirrels but I did see a beautiful jay that was so different from the blue jays we have in the US. I would stay here again in a minute!

Such an unique experience! These bothies are incredible, both in the design, practicality and location. We hired two bothies for our family of 5 and dog and they were great, very clean, equipped and really made us more energy conscious. We were very comfortable. They also supply everything including washing up liquid, sponges, bin bags, logs, fire lighters, kindling. The location is ideal for exploring this part of the Cairngorms and google maps took us straight there - it’s setting within woodland is magical and we saw a few creatures including red squirrels. Various natural spots nearby such as the nature reserve and endless walks and adventure. Highly recommend for an unforgettable experience :)

Dissapointing
The pictures on the listing do not reflect the property on arrival. We were expecting to be surrounded by trees and wildlife but since they are re-developing the site it looks more like a warzone with most of the trees felled. Very dissapointing for my kids

Cozy little cottages and friendly hosts.
We were meeting friends to go to the Highland games and there were little lodging available at a reasonable price. I was a little concerned about the bothies based on earlier reviews but we all loved it. One friend was very tall and in a bothies with lower ceilings so they offered a different one but they didn't mind. We all enjoyed the wood stoves, the environment, and the beds. Also the fridge and kitchenette.
But, we soon learned that internet and cell connections are rare in most of northern Scotland. As our luggage did not arrive with us, communication was a challenge, but it all worked out as I was walking down the road when I found the luggage guy looking for our cabin.
