“Not the fanciest hotel, room was practical (not luxury), but food in restaurant was excellent, bar drinks reasonably priced, rooms were very clean, and there were 5 pools, all of different temperatures. Price was good!”

“This is a classic, elegant upscale hotel with well maintained, individual cottages each with a spectacular view of Lake Arenal (when the clouds lift). The food is outstanding, both the included breakfast and the ala carte lunch/dinner menu. The service is excellent and staff very helpful and friendly. It rained all 5 days we stayed here. “This was a spur of the moment decision and we are so glad we had this memorable experience. We abandoned our first (prepaid) stay at another location to get closer to the action in La Fortuna. Mentioning this to the front desk, they said “we are not fancy”. To us, this was so special. At the gate at the bottom of the mountain, an attendant lets you in (with confirmation of reservation). The road is high and steep and takes about 6 minutes to climb. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended....

“We loved staying at the Hotel Boutique Casa Del Rio. The staff was extremely gracious and helpful. Everyone we met seemed happy to work there. Our room, tucked away in a lovely oasis-like environment, was very clean and comfortable. I loved the grounds and the restaurant. And we got to see howler monkeys along the river!”
