Absolutely stunning property with a very thought out layout and design. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet and had blackout curtains. The restaurant onsite was also delicious and offered a wide range of options. The SPA was so nice and had the best couples message ever.

Very nice hotel and spa with an excellent riverside location. The grounds are very nice and the rooms have excellent views of the Duoro river. The rooms and bathrooms are good and the breakfast was very good. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were very helpful and worked hard. The restaurant was OK but not exceptional. Overall, an excellent hotel.

Beautiful property and amazing staff. The weather was a bit rainy but it was still very beautiful and the indoor pool was amazing. You do need to wear a swim cap for the indoor pool though. Good breakfast as well

The staff were phenomenal!! Hotel itself was modern and very clean. Spa experience was great. I have never received the level of service anywhere like I did here. We will definitely be back!!!

Hotel with lots of potential but felt a little dated in parts. Seems very understaffed. Bar and restaurant staff are slow because it seems they are doing multiple jobs at once. All are lovely and helpful though. Paid for a massage and it started 10 mins late and finished five mins early.

This was our first stay at Douro Palace and as we arrived and parked up we were amazed with location and appearance of the site. We were really pleased with the welcome we received and then when we arrived at our room, which we had booked with a river view, were amazed with the view - weā€™d really recommend a river view room. We enjoyed the outdoor pool that was available 24 hours with a bar open in the daytime. We ate both nights we stayed at the restaurant which had really good portion sizes and the food quality was impeccable. The breakfast had a really good selection too and was all of very high quality. Weā€™ll be sure to recommend Douro Palace to anyone we know is visiting the area! We did realise itā€™s a bit of a drive for the main, well known, wineries and boat trips but the quality of the hotel made that a ā€˜not problemā€™!

Incredible stay- absolute highlight of our trip. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The property and facilities were so nice. It would be hard not to enjoy this place and to totally disconnect and relax.

Fabulous location and very beautiful views, The drive was slightly terrifying through mountainous roads and forest fires, Having said that it was incredibly unforgettable!

Amazing retreat - reason to come back

We only had one night, but it was simply amazing. Do go for the river view which is amazing both night and day. Great restaurant, lovely secluded pool and beautiful surroundings. See you again!

It was amazing. The staff, service and room was amazing. The place is in the middle of nowhere so be aware that it will take time to go to any place if plan to eat or do excursions outside of the hotel

Wonderful surprise

This hotel is in a beautiful remote location in the Douro Valley. It is a spa style hotel. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Staff on desk ere very helpful. We like the dining room food better than the bar menu (just our choice).

This hotel is amazing ! Has beautiful views , is incredibly confortable , clean , staff very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, food was very good and staff friendly , there was a delay serving food and staff were very apologetic Breakfast is very good best bread I ever had in a hotel! The indoor swimming pool is clean and provides a very relaxing atmosphere The bed was very confortable. I will go back again as this was a very good place to relax

Idyllic isolation!

An amazing escape from the world! Such an idyllic place. Advise on booking a transfer if you're not driving as it's so isolated. That's what made it so perfect!

Nice but....

Great check-in. Very poor restaurant service, which looks like it was attributable to insufficient, properly trained staff. One excellent waiter running up and down stairs trying to run both bar and restaurant floor.
