Staff were helpful and assisted with an early check in. Room was clean and well presented. Motion sensor stair light seemed to come on when our constantlry arguing neighbours were in and out of their room banging doors. Maybe fit a normal two way lighting system ratjer than a motion would be better. ...

![Old Manor House site, Topcliffe Known as Manor Hills or Cock Lodge, this is the site of a medieval manor house belonging to the Percys. The view shows the outer ditch and bank in the foreground with the inner ditch [moat] and bank beyond. The conical mound was the site of a windmill. The manor is thought to have been erected in the 13th century and was described as 'ruinous' in a survey of the estate in 1577.
