Just a short distance from Colmar, this typical Alsatian village has narrow cobblestone streets lined with brightly painted half-timbered houses that date from the 16th and 17th century. Ancient inscriptions can still be deciphered on the stone lintels of the houses. These historic houses feature balconies that are lovingly decorated with potted flowers. A medieval village in the Alsace region of France, Eguisheim is well worth a visit. The outer rue encircles the main town square filled with many timbered houses. In the centre we where lucky to see the storks nesting on top of the church too.

It is officially listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, and has changed little since the 16th century.

Lovely modern room for 3. Friendly staff. Breakfast wasn’t loads of option some hot and cold things but it was enough for our stay. Lovely central location easy to get to a lot and not too far from the airport and tourist attractions. Would stay again.
