How you qualify this back packers as a four star hotel is beyond me.
The only thing that is NOT communal was my bedroom, but even that smelt like the bed linen, pillows and doona had come straight off some sweaty body and put into a doona cover.
The toilets, bathroom sinks, showers, kitchen, lounge everything shared.
The whole place could do with a good clean, every surface is covered in dust, grime and the communal mixed sex bathroom enjoys the “pleasures” of your fellow guests hair on the shower screen and god knows what else. There is a smell of uncleanliness pervading the entire indoor area.
It is the place I have felt the least safe, as a single female traveller, in the last 10 years.
This isn’t the backpackers problem, but having some drunk person vomit literally outside your bedroom window and listening and putting up with the local residents lining the recycling bins outside the same window is deeply unpleasant.
Let’s not even talk about not a single guest wearing a mask in common indoor areas, whilst Covid restrictions are still in place and absolutely everything is intended to be shared.
The receptionist was nice, the views from the communal wrap around balcony are lovely. There’s an area of that balcony though that looks like it’s about to collapse and should probably be taped off as a hazard.
I’m trying to find redeeming features but it’s hard going.
The mattress were squishy, the pillows lumpy and as mentioned smelt sweaty (I ended up not using them, and sleeping
