It is in the middle of town but seems more like a nightclub, has bouncers on the door and if you haven’t got a passport or driving licence not allowed on the premises not even to drop off luggage. Very intimidating especially when already paid for. Room- underwhelming but as expected for the price. Lift didn’t work but can’t fault the staff on that. Sheets clean but a double room I expect a double bed not two singles put together.

Enjoyable stay

Enjoyed our stay. Hotel very central and good value for money. Decor a bit dated and hotel needs a bit of a refresh but was clean and staff helpful. Would certainly stay again.

Room clean and bed comfortable. Good sleep. Housekeeping staff were very helpful. Broadband signal was very weak and useless. No excuse in 2025 free or not. Not very happy in having to show ID when checking in as a British Citizen. Hotel stated it was enforced by West Midland Police. Only found out when carrying out on line checking. No info on Expedia wgen booked..

Great stay.

Three nights. Spacious twin room. Comfortable beds, enough towels. Really clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is obviously tired but so what. Great location near lots of food and drink options and only a 15 min walk to the station. Only complaint which is the same with all Britannias is no plug sockets by the beds.

The place was close to the town centre, easily accessible, parts of the room was very dusty and moulds found in parts of the bathroom. I loved their food. First receptionist absolutely terrible (seemed like she didn’t want to work) but excellent customer care from one on the second day. Overall stay was average

When we arrived we found a wet bathroom floor wasn't a major issue as there was a leak which looked like it was from the toilet we did report it other than that we had a decent stay I would recommend this hotel it's in a great location too

I didnt know what to expect, cos of the mixed nature of previous review. However, I was surprised. The hotel is old, obviously but they have done their best to keep it clean and tidy. The hallway to my floor was a bit dank, but it could be due to anything. The room however was very clean, comfortable I dare say. The rug could be changed but it was not an irritation. Everything you need for a basic room was there, including an Iron. So yes, I was surprised.

Didn't like having to park in a public carpark so far from the Hotel especially when you have to put a pay and disply sticker in the window, telling anybody that looked, how long you were parking for. Otherwise very convenient location to see tlhe city attractions. The room was very basic, but clean and more than met our needs.
