We had a beautiful weekend and it is such a lovely property with an INCREDIBLE restaurant and winery -- sampled some of their wines and they were all amazing. The only issue is that the room was a bit dated -- not enough plugs and we couldn't figure out how to get the heat working so it was rather cold when we got up in the morning and the kettle blew part of the electricity to room when we plugged it in, but it wasn't that big of a deal as we just adapted and went out for the morning coffee. Can't say enough about the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, they were incredibly responsive. And it was just a joy to walk down to the lake and watch the sunset. I want to go back!!

I went there with two friends on our girls annual getaway from a Tuesday to a Friday in September. This place is amazing in every aspect. From the time we first pulled in and walked thru the doors and saw the stunning beautiful inside to our good bye at the end😢. The pool and view there is so beautiful and peaceful. Many lounge chairs by the pool and there is a patio that belongs to the restaurant I believe with tables and chairs. With going in Sept., it was chillier and not busy for the restaurant so they were not used but we could use them lol. The pool is sparkling and clean butttt cold for there is no heater in it. We walked the breathtaking grounds and took a million pictures and even went up to the tower. Our room was a basic two queen bed room but the tv. I wished there was a microwave in the room tho. There is a fridge but no microwave. We, unfortunately, did not eat a dinner there because we were out during the day. The beach nearby is beautiful and we went into the wonderful shops of Bayfield - smashed burger at the Goose and Gander is soooo good. That’s only about a 15 minute drive and scenery is beautiful. Second day we went to Goderich and let’s say, did not spend a lot of time there (construction and was not many “little shops”). We went back and the White Squirrel was our dinner of choice. They had live music (Dustin is amazing) and the steak and gravy omg) We had Breakfast at our inn the day we left was it was delicious. Amazing getaway❤

The property was well maintained and extensive but the weather did not allow for properly exploring everything and the room was a bit dated. The winery was not open during our visit. There were no directions for using the fireplace. All staff with whom we interacted were extremely helpful and informative. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, using the location as a base for exploring the area.

Absolutely loved the lush property, lovely garden area, private terrace with our room. It met all our expectations for a relaxing getaway. The dining room was lovely and staff was excellent. The meals were of excellent quality.

Overall this was a very lovely stay! We came just after Labour Day weekend and were notified ahead of time about the limited restaurant hours which was a nice heads-up. Check-in was easy and the employee was helpful. The room was very quaint and clean. Not top-of-the-line and could use updates but clearly very well-maintained and exceptionally clean. The bed was very bouncy and a bit noisy, and the sofa bed was in rough shape. The pool was open but quite cold and a little dirty with debris, but water quality was good. There weren't pool towels that we could find but luckily, we had packed some. The beach is about a km away from the hotel/winery but it's a short drive on private property with parking near the entrance. There is a big staircase, but otherwise accessible and quiet. It was very nice. The star of the show was definitely the property. Beautiful gardens and a gazebo that was well-lit into the night made for a beautiful evening walk around the grounds. We had a brief visit to the winery and Val was SO GREAT to give us wine recommendations, and we stayed for a glass. We had a very nice time here and will definitely stay again and recommend to friends as a good value stay in a beautiful region!

I've been a guest at Hessenland Inn since the pandemic. The location, accommodations, and staff are, in my opinion as good as it gets anywhere I have travelled in the world, but fortunately for me, it is a mere 1.5 hours away ,on beautiful Lake Huron. Thank you Hessenland Inn and staff for always making my time away memorable.

The room was very comfortable, with a separate seating area with a sofa bed, which allowed our daughter to have some privacy. The property is beautiful, with a lovely pool and a BEAUTIFUL private beach. We were there during a terrible storm. And while tornado warnings were sounding, the staff was calm and reassuring, not seeming fazed at all, really easing our minds. We found out later that we were in the exact area where tornadoes touched down, and many were left without power. The hotel's generators kept everything going for us; it was amazing. I didn't have a chance to get any staff names other than Liz who was so kind, warm and seemed to really care about our family, even sharing a picture with me of the storm coming over the lake. We've already booked another stay and can't wait.

Place was nice. Staff were friendly. Our room was a decent size and right next to the parking lot. Breakfast was good but I couldnt get an omlette eventhough the menu said eggs any style. Our only issue was the mattresses for the bed and worse the sofa bed. They were spunges with no support. I have never had a hotel with terrible mattresses like this before. We couldnt sleep.

Comfortable room, beautiful property, tasty wine, delicious food, AND beach access! WHAT else could you ask for. If you’re looking to slow down and relax - just book it. On the way, we drove through Grand Bend, and saw all the craziness of a typical summer Saturday. We continued on, and when we pulled into the property we IMMEDIATELY knew we chose the right spot. Beach was a short trip around the back of the property - had the whole beach to ourselves. Wine tasting was fantastic. Dinner was awesome. All of the staff was amazing. Will defintely be back!

The property itself was absolutely beautiful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the entire property was very well maintained. We stayed from Monday to Wednesday, so unfortunately the restaurant and winery were not open during our stay. We opted out of the Breakfast offered by the Hotel at an additional charge. However, this did not take away from our experience, and we still had a wonderful time. One of our favourite parts of the property was the lovely trail that leads down to a small, quiet section of the beach. We walked down in the evening and watched the most beautiful sunset. It was an especially memorable moment for us because we got engaged there! It will forever be a very special place to us, and we are so grateful to have had such a beautiful setting for such an important moment. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this property. It was peaceful, beautiful, and made for an unforgettable experience.
