Surprisingly a very nice upscale resort that the photos in Expedia did not do justice. Awesome accommodations and good dining options which can be rare in remote areas of VT

The property is scenic, but the cabin was tiny and shabby and so overpriced. One redeeming thing was the abundance of activities and the wonderful dining experience.
We loved our cozy cabin on stilts right on the water. Pleasantview cabin had all the privacy and views. A resort around for generations. Has Dirty Dancing vibes. Beautiful property and service. So glad we stayed!
Absolutely beautiful property with lovely gardens everywhere. The harbor staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a bit outdated and the food was okay for the price. The pool is fantastic! My children had such a good time.
Quiet, private, great location nestled in a protected harbor and Lake Champlain; nice swimming area in the Lake as well as a beautiful outdoor pool. Well-maintained golf course, dining options, even a "snack shack." 90 minute "shipwreck" cruise on the Lake was fun (underwater drone utilized to actually show us some of the 200 wrecks that litter the bottom of Lake Champlain). Our stay was made most wonderful by the awesome staff, most especially the front desk people who have great attitudes and a willingness to go out of their way to be helpful; all were amazing but especially Tanner and Zee! Thank you for making a first time visitor feel right at home!
Wish we'd had more time there to enjoy the lovely resort grounds and more of the facilities. Room was large and cabin-like in that there was a back deck and screen door out onto it (as well as a solid door, of course). It rained the day and night there, and we left the back door open to hear the lovely rain all night ~
The only surprise to us was having no tv in the room - fine with the many outdoor activities but on rainy days and nights we would've liked to have had one~

Very expensive resort hotel with not many room amenities. This place was one of the most expensive, definitely out in the boonies hotel we stayed in our long road trip. We were looking for a place to stay and it was later in the evening, and this was one of the only options in the area. The staff was very friendly, but we did not use any of the outdoor activities. We stayed in the main lodge and even though our room had a living room area, we were surprised to find NO Television in the room! The only TV was in a public space. The bathroom had one small shelf to put your toiletries, which was very inconvenient, and I could not find a hair dryer. The shower was one of the small capsule style like in Europe, so no elbow room. We did go down to their Red Mill restaurant and the staff was very accommodating to get us seated near a TV for the NFL game. We also liked the snack bar downstairs the next morning & got a yummy fresh croissant & cappuccino for breakfast.
Cottages are very old. Faucet malfunctioned and couldn’t turn water off at one point. Ac window units are dirty and room has funny smell. Beds are very soft and you fall in. No tv in rooms. Not worth what we paid for. Trampolines in water covered in seagull droppings. Limited dining options although food is pretty good. Grounds are nice and clean but not enough trash barrels.
My husband and I stayed at this property because we are driving from the New England coast to upstate New York and wanted a halfway place in the extreme heat. I had remembered this place finally from a couple visits when I was a little girl and had always wanted to go back. We had a lovely room and one of the cottages we had great meals at the main restaurant and the Red Mill.
We loved swimming in the lake at the resort and at Button Bay Park. My husband visited the nearby Marine museum, and I had a wonderful visit at the Shelburne Museum.
The staff were professional and extra courteous!
Only two things that I would change:
The breakfast options were extremely limited. Large Buffet in main dining room, or coffee and small choice of pastries at the main lodge store. Sub par coffee machines in the room.
I recommend adding a place to get good coffee and a small continental breakfast on site.
The other issue that we had is the trail to Button Bay park was not well marked, the signage needs to be enhanced. We got slightly lost, but met a couple the next day who got really lost for the same reason.
I went to Vergennes, 15 minutes away to find good coffee and there are some nice small shops there.
