Choosing to stay here you need to keep in mind that it is a 2 star hostel so you can't expect bells and whistles. You have to manage your expectations. That being said me and my partner found this to be the perfect base for our Byron Bay stay. We stayed in a private cube double room and to be honest it's everything we needed. We've stayed in 5 star hotels before and I can honestly say the bed in this hostel was one of the comfiest beds we've ever slept in! We had a fridge to store food and drink & even a kettle with tea, coffee & milk. Please be warned the rooms are not air-conditioned but we did have a big fan on the wall that helped massively! We can't comment on kitchen/ cooking facilities as we did not make use of these. Bathrooms are perfectly functional but could do with some tlc and a more regular cleaning schedule. We made sure we took antibac wipes in with us every time & always where you flip flops in the shower lol! The room was overall clean but could have definitely done with a deeper clean such as upholstery clean & walls/skirtings/Windows. Overall we had a lovely stay here and found the staff super friendly and helpful!

Haven't been to the Arts Factory for quite a few years now. Love the place, its uniqueness in the vanilla of the modern Byron Bay, as well as its proximity to beaches, town etc. The staff were a mixed bunch, the lady that checked me was awesome, friendly, competent and welcoming.Other staff were a mixed bunch with some having little interest and others being somewhat rude. The joint is also looking a bit run down compared to what it was years ago. Would I stay again?, possibly, I hardly spent any time there as I was working at the Mullum Music festival, so if was living the backpacker ( as opposed to traveller) dream perhaps I would stay again.

Cozy hostel

I really like the vibe at Arts Factory Lodge! It is a beautiful, cozy, friendly and artsy place with a lot of young backpackers. It can get a bit loud at times but there is loads of space and a big kitchen fitting many chefs at one go. Also loved the morning yoga! The dorms only have one ceiling light, no individual lamps or power sockets and the wifi isn’t very good in the rooms. But all in all it was a good stay!

The Cube double rooms are a great budget alternative to the dormitories to have your own space, security and privacy. Fridge and tea making facilities included in the room. Truly a unique, enjoyable experience.
